I was hoping for a cover to hold my kindle in more securely than the cover that comes with it, but although this cover is marginally more secure, the corners are glued down not stitched and the gluing was poorly done so the corners are coming unraveled. Very unhappy at the very shoddy workmanship, especially given the price. I guess because the kindle 1 isn't the new and improved version it is ok to sell poorly made items as accessories for it.

I just received this cover today and have already printed the return shipping label. The construction quality seems fine, but the cover doesn't close fully when used on a Kindle. Since the kindle 1 has a distinctive wedge-shape, I'm sure that is the reason for the elastic strap of the original Amazon cover. I don't imagine that the lack of a strap would be a problem with the cover that Bobarra has for the latest (kindle 2 and dx) designs.

On a side-note, I did exchange a couple emails with the owner of Bobarra when making this purchase decision and was very impressed by her rapid replies and answers to my questions.

I will not recommend this product for their first generation kindle. The details are invaild and should be changed as soon as possible.

I received this cover today, {ASIN:B0021KDKE0 Thoreau Cover for Kindle 2: Chocolate Brown Leather]] and it is not at all like the one pictured. The retention is by elastic straps in the corners that are too small to hold the Kindle 2. I E-Mailed Bobarra and they said the pictures are for the Kindle 1 version. The quality of the leather is not great either, this is a cheap, cost saving substitute. It's on its way back.

I am purchasing the Kindle 2, but wanted to know if this cover fits the Kindle 2?
