I actually first bought these at the Sports Authority in Boulder; I had a pair in my hand, standing there contemplating whether ONE pair of socks was worth almost $20, when one of the store associates walked by and told me if I never bought another pair of socks in my life, buy these ones. Boy, was she right!! I've had the same pair for about a year now, and with 4-5 runs per week, a half marathon and now marathon training, these pretty much still look brand new. This might be gross, but I wash these about every 2 weeks and wear the same pair EVERY time I run, so they're definitely incredibly durable and stink free! I also wear them year round: hot, wet, cold, muddy, the gym, etc. and I've never had a problem, they seem to acclimate to every weather situation.

Bottom line: well worth the money.

What more to say. This Merino wool and silk sock while having some interesting features just does not last or wear well at all. I'm sticking with my Smartwool and Darn Tough socks. I had 5 pair of these, now only 2. I have lots of others in rotation so it's not like I was wearing them a lot either. They were being worn with Merrells.

I initially purchased these at a Sports Authority that was clearing them out in favor of the CoolMax version. They stopped carrying the Merino Wool/Silk. Maybe too many complaints?

I've had several pairs develop holes and total loss of the Marino wool from the mesh it appears to have been woven into.

They're great while they last, but why would you buy something that doesn't last when there are so many better options? You won't after reading this review.

My newest favorite socks, Made in America, lifetime warranty are the Darn Tough brand.

This is a great-quality sock but it runs large. I ordered the extra small because I wear a women's size 5 running shoe, and even though the range for XS is 5-6.5, it fits loose and bulky on my foot. I need the snug "glove-like fit" that the product description claims this sock offers. Maybe it would fit that way for someone who wears a 6.5 and therefore falls on the high end of the size range. If you wear a size below a women's 6, though, I suggest trying something else.

Just like other types of Thorlo running socks, these have the nice cushioning pad at the heel and forefoot for absorbing road impact. The combination of silk and wool fibers do a great job of keeping your feet blister-free and Amazon's color options are pretty good. I buy these for my husband and son who are both long-distance runners who compete in marathons. Another reviewer down-rated them for being too expensive. Our family's experience has been that all of the top running socks tend to be in the $15-20 price range...with a few special pairs in the $25-35 range.

I expected a pair or 18$ socks to last longer than they did but that's life. They fit as expected and when you first get them you feel like your walking on air. That feeling doesn't last long though especially after a few washes. The cushioning gets flat after about a month. I have had them for close to a year and they have a hole in the heel already. You would think for the price they would last longer. Also, I would like to note that I am NOT a runner and only use them about twice a week for walking on concrete at work.

I have several pairs of these socks and I love them. I have had foot surgery on both feet and have a metal plate in each foot. These socks provide cushioning in just the right place along the sides of my toes. I've tried the Nike Elite socks and they don't even compare with the Thorlo Experia.

recommended if you are on your feet the whole day, or for running and walking. It protects you from getting blister because the cushions are strategically placed where the pressure points are.

This is not a bad pair of socks. But I question the high price for what you get. The uneven thickness is rather interesting and takes getting used to. I mean there is less support in the arch and more in the ball and heel. Was a rather exaggerated effect for my liking. But even so they are pretty comfy. And at first the material seems very quality, but after only a few days of wear, you can really tell the bottom is starting tk tear away and pill, like you would see on a very cheap 100% cotton sock. So I very much doubt the longevity of these socks. May do an update later to be sure. My advice, if you are interested, just get one pair to try them, but don't order in bulk until you've really tested them yourself.

The sizing is very confusing on this item. So be aware when you order the "small" it's mens small and will only fit women with a size 10 or larger.
