5.0 out of 5 stars Floor polisher by Koblenz
I must admit, that with today's carefree floors, few need a floor polisher any more, but I have hardwood floors and my wife likes them clean, waxed and shiny. This product does it all, and without a whimper, the motor is quiet and strong enough and the unit is very light to move around or to carry, so I am one heck of a satisfied customer.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent Job
This is pretty light weight, but should be enough for most home uses. A T-bar would be nice for better control and for some reason I thought that's what I ordered. The bristles on the brush were a disappointment. They shed worse than my dog! Also, I think they could have done better than the plastic anchors used to attach the various pads onto the brush. By the way, order...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great floor scrubber and buffer!, May 7, 2010

This review is from: Thorne Electric P-620A HardFloor Cleaning Mach (Office Product)
I designed a fun, graphic commercial vinyl tile floor for our kitchen and sunroom, having it professionally installed. The installer recommended purchasing an electric scrubber/buffer to maintain it, but I managed to manually maintain for a few years (that means many hours of crawling around on my hands and knees stripping wax makes for pretty sore knees and an aching back) before making the decision to invest in a floor machine.

I finally took the installer's advice and after researching floor machines for a few months, I decided to purchase the Koblenz P-620. It's wonderful. It's lightweight, very easy to install the brushes/scrubbers/buffing pads and it is so simple to use. I'm very pleased with the machine as a whole and highly recommend it to others. It has made a chore I used to dread, almost fun to do! Amazing!

The thing that swayed my decision toward the Koblenz P-620 was the brass parts(rather than plastic), the availability of replacement brushes and pads, AND the various wax strippers, cleaners, and gloss coating bearing their namebrand that are available.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beats waxing on your hands and knees, February 20, 2009
This review is from: Thorne Electric P-620A HardFloor Cleaning Mach (Office Product)
I have old hardwood floors that will eventually be refinished. In the mean time, paste wax protects and keeps them looking nice. I use the machine to put the paste wax on and then change to a buffing pad and buff the dried wax. The only complaint that I might mention is the pads sometimes come off and fly across the room. It's a little frustration compared to how difficult it would be to wax an entire house on my hands and knees.

5.0 out of 5 stars Koblenz P-620 Upright Floor Machine, February 22, 2010

I decided to get this machine to buff my wood floors after straining a hip muscle doing the "towel dance" on my floors. I have only used it to buff and polish my wood floors - and I have a lot of wood floors - and it is wonderful - light weight and easy to move, and it is easy to change pads. I used it after cleaning my floors with a wood floor cleaner. The soft wool pad will curl up if you catch it on an area rug, but otherwise I've had no problems - and no more sore legs.

I ordered this machine to help recover some wood floors that hadn't been waxed in years. I'm pretty happy with it, and the floor looks much improved after one waxing. The machine is lightweight enough to be easily moved around, yet powerful enough to do a pretty good job. I won't say "excellent," because I believe the machine would need more weight than 11 lb, but I'm willing to do an extra pass with the luster pads here and there.

If you buy this machine, you need to buy buffing pads additionally. It ships with scrubbing brushes (no good for wood floors); cleaning pads (which I'm not sure are okay for wood), and luster pads. I was afraid to use the polishing brushes directly on the floor. FWIW I got the buffing pads awhile back when trying to fit out a different, old, machine instead of buying new. Got them through Amazon, but am not sure whether they were directly from Koblenz. Others have reported trouble with pad orders through Koblenz.

Other reviewers have said their pads only last a few uses. Mine have been used three times so far, and are in good shape. I think a lot of it has to do with the way you handle the pads, i.e., pulling them off by the pad (and stretching the hole) versus pulling the whole "collar" straight outward, and how well you clean them. FWIW the buffing pads, being felt, take several days to dry after washing. So I've reused slightly dirty pads with no problem. And, of course, you can turn them over.

I'd recommend this machine. If you've never had a wax-type floor (which I hadn't), the whole thing can be a little intimidating. But you'll do fine with this machine; just err on the side of caution with the brushes and pads.

Edit: I discovered the wool pads can be very easily machine-washed on the hand-wash cycle, in a mesh bag, with Woolite and warm water - and the spin cycle gets rid of most of the leftover moisture. It worked fine for me.

wow! what a great machine! I purchased this buffer/scrubber to try to recover an old vinyl floor that had withstood many years of neglect & wear. I am remarkably pleased with the miracle performance of this machine. For a very small investment in the Koblenz, I have extended the life of a 1970's vinyl floor that will cost me many $$$$ to replace. Now I can keep my floor looking clean & polished while I plan (and save) for my eventual kitchen make-over. Thank you Amazon for providing a terrific product for the home owner.

I have hard wood floors where all except one room the floors are polyurethane. I needed to make the waxed floors as shiny as the others so they would match. This machine made it possible and was easy to use. The assembly was relatively simple and the ease of using the machine a pleasure. I have only used it once but I do recommend this product

I have all tile floors in my new house and this buffer did the trick when it came to deep cleaning and buffing after a paste waxing.

For the money it costs I would highly recommend this buffer. It really does the job you need. It's quite and easy to handle.
