I have been slightly to moderately anemic since high school but could never take traditional iron supplements (ferrous) because of severe GI side effects. I finally got to the point where a transfusion was imminent and tried this vegan form of iron on the advice of a new family doctor. After three months my iron levels are very much improved - my Hematologist is impressed. There may be a slight aggravation to my existing GI problems (or it could be the bran muffins I've also introduced into my diet) but well worth the benefit. I have been taking 1 a day (25mg) and may be able to reduce the dose in the future if I continue to improve at the current rate. I wish this had been available to me from the beginning. My anemia has been dragging me down for years.

This supplement was recommended to me by my doctor as my Ferritin levels were really low. I have absolutely no problem taking this iron, even on an empty stomache, whereas other iron supplements have made me nauseous.

I was extremely anemic for years due to a severe case of uterine fibroids. My GYN said she couldn't believe I'd never been transfused. I'd been taking 650 mg of ferrous sulfate iron PER DAY, as prescribed by my primary care doctor, but every month after my heavy period, my iron level would again plummet, which means I was weak and lethargic with cloudy thinking all of the time. May 2012, in desperation, I began seeing a naturopathic doctor. At my first appointment, she discontinued my use of ferrous sulfate and prescribed Thorne Iron Picolinate plus Floradix Iron + Herbs 3 times each per day. That's 105 mg. total of easily-digested iron prescribed by my ND compared to 650 mg. of the difficult-to-digest ferrous sulfate iron prescribed by my MD. Within 3 weeks, my lab work indicated my iron (etc.) levels were significantly increased. I couldn't believe how much better I felt within such a short period of time! Within 3 months, all levels were either within normal or just below and I was feeling fabulous. My doctors were pleasantly surprised. Now, I only take Floradix when I have an extremely heavy period. Daily I take 1 to 2 Thorne Iron Picolinate tablets depending on my iron levels. It works!

This form of iron was recommended by a health care professional as the best type of iron that is easily absorbed. I have taken iron for most of my life being boarderline anemic. During my pregnancy this is the only iron that actually increased my iron levels and without all the unpleasant side effects. Recommend this to everyone now!

These are the healthiest way to get iron, for people who are iron deficient. My naturalpath is telling me to take 2 a day which seems kind of intense, but I"ve been doing it. She says these are the best.

My iron was very low. My doctor/naturopathy gave me this iron to take. It has worked very well and I found it cheaper here on Amazon. Great product.

I have polycythemia vera and have to do frequent phlebotomy to keep my blood levels down. My ferritin was 25 and the iron that my hematologist prescribed could only bring it up to 40 over a period of 4 months. My nutritionist told me to use Iron Picolinate 60 Vegetarian Capsules and my ferritin went to 287 within 4 weeks. Now it appears that it may have been discontinued and I am fearful that my health may take a drastic turn for the worse.

Like this iron very much, would recommend. Found difficult to find at times, so have taken to order more than one bottle at a time.
