I was searching for work boots online and everyone said if you want the best go with RedWing. Then I came across a few posts about their production being shifted to China. Boots to me are tools and I have broken enough tools made in China to realize I needed something American made. Read the reviews on these and pulled the trigger. I couldn't be happier.

Sizing: I am normally a 9.5-10 depending on the shoe. I went with a 9 in these and while they do fit, I can only wear them with a thin wool or cotton sock. I prefer to wear thick boot socks and liners but that makes the boot VERY tight.

Oh well I still love them and they're definitely the best made boot I've owned so far.

I just received these boots today already i can tell just how well they are made i'd say on par with red wing. they are very comfortable and it looks like they will last for years. The best part is that they are 100% made in the good ole U.S.A. I am very glad I discovered these boots on Amazon because they don't sell them in stores in my area. Be sure to order a half size smaller I normally wear a 12 but in these i'm a 11.5 .

These are by far the best, most comfortable work boots my husband said he has ever worn!! Just one thing though.. He did order a half size smaller, ( he is normally a ten but ordered a 9. 5) and most importantly, he has a normal width size foot and takes a D .., but for some reason these boots seem more narrower., we had to return them because they were just too tight in width even though they fit in length. We ordered them in EE and they now fit like a glove.Keep that in mind and you will love love love these boots, They are actually really nice looking and far better than the redwings.. which is what my husband wanted originally but they are expensive and they also didnt make this type of boot in steel toe. He's glad now that Redwing doesnt or else he wouldnt of known about these boots. He will now always order these ones!!

This is my second pair of Thorogoods, not because the first pair wore out, but because I needed steel-toe boots. Both these and the non-safety boots are incredibly comfortable (I prefer them over sneakers!) and well made. The wedge sole is perfect for construction work, and they don't mar the flooring at home, which keeps the wife happy, too. Sizing is perfect for me (others say to drop down a half size); I wear a 9D and throw on a thick pair of cotton socks, no chafe, no discomfort, no rubbing. To make them fit perfectly, I recommend standing in a water puddle for a few minutes, until the leather is completely wet, then continuing to wear them as they dry out - this will help the leather mould better to your feet for a 'custom fit' feel. All around a great boot, and certainly less expensive than some of the competition (Red Wing comes to mind).

Nice steel toe work boots. The leather is soft and substantial. The workmanship is nice and the boots look good enough to use in the office. If you need a lifestyle/fashion boot Red Wing or Chippewa are a bit more refined and might worth spending more money, they are not steel toed though.

The white sole is non-slip and appears to be more durable than similar soles, it is more practical than a crepe sole (Red Wing). You can probably change laces to something more formal if you want to use it in the office.

Regarding the sizing, I wear 10 in most dress/casual shoes, 10 Converse and 11 Nike. I purchased these boots in 10 regular and they fit alright. I think the toe box runs a bit narrow (I am talking about the steel toed version), if you have wide forefoot you probably want to buy the wide version. For wide version you might be able to go half size down length wise.

I've only had these boots for a week now so my review can't speak on their durability. I went with the tobacco leather and white soles. I wear size 8 and they fit me very well. The steel toe was snug, but comfortable. The soles are comfortable, and I wear my boots about 14 hours a day. The leather is soft, no real break in time. They look and feel great and I would buy again.

I had to return the size 10's I got for my husband because they were really really big. I got a 9.5 instead base on reviews and they fit him perfectly. He loves the fit, the look and the comfort. Wore them all day long working outside the first day and said his feet didn't hurt at all at the end of the day.
