5.0 out of 5 stars jaunty jalopies rock
this film is a classic. it's great in so many ways. it's a prime example of old school filmmaking. they literally don't make films like this anymore. a cast of classic comic actors, assembled for a romp onscreen. the situations are clean, anyone in the family can watch the film. terry-thomas is dynamite, playing his typical nasty english cad role. tony curtis is good,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Light, but entertaining
Various comic characters from different countries gather for a road rally through Europe in the 20's, setting the stage for plenty of good-natured, family friendly hijinks. The international cast (including Tony Curtis and the wonderful Terry-Thomas) is very good. Although lightweight, the story moves along at a good pace. The international cast (including Tony Curtis and the wonderful Terry-Thomas) is very good. Although lightweight, the story moves along at a good pace. If you enjoy the kind of madcap comedies with large ensemble casts that were made so often in the 60's (think "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World"), you'll probably get a kick out of this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Jaunty Jalopies soon to be released to DVD in it's original edit out on 6-3-08, March 26, 2008
This review is from: Those Daring Young Men in Their Jaunty Jalopies (Monte Carlo or Bust) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The original edit of those daring young men in their jaunty jalopies will soon be released on June 3rd.

A fun, rollicking comedy in the manner of "Those Magnificent Men in the Flying Machines", or "It's a Mad, mad, Mad, Mad World".

These were bigscreen, big budget extravaganzas that Hollywood made in the 60's to draw viewers away from the ever growing domination of television, and to allow some escapism from the tragedy of the Vietnam war.

Jaunty Jalopies delivers the laughs and adventure in an unforgettable classic. It will never be confused with highbrow cinema such as "Citizen Kane" but is quite enjoyable nevertheless and a worthwhile purchase for viewing with the whole family.

Much better than most the current Cr--. At age 75, I want to laugh and this film helps. WHEN will they give it to us in DVD and CC for the ancients and hard of hearing.
