This is a compilation of oral histories of the rescue of 152 of 317 suvivors from the USS Indianapolis. LCDR Wren was a rescue boat officer pulling the men out of the sea. This is the first-hand oral stories of the men in the sea and of those who rescued them. It includes their stories, illustrations, and the words of those who were there. It also includes a brief history of the tour of the USS Bassett,APD73, and an insight to the life of sailors in this tragedy.

Numerous television and public speaking engagements relate to Naval History and this episode in particular. Previously published "Richmond, Home of the Confederate Navy". Has appeared on A&E and the History Channel programs related to the sinking of the Indianapolis.
