For anyone interested in the time period of the settlement of the great plains of eastern Colorado, this is a fascinating read. The author includes the contributions of a variety of women from various ethnic groups who were instrumental in building this desolate but beautiful land into a prime agricultural area. This is a thoroughly researched study with many anecdotes and sidebars.
