Book Description

October 16, 2008
This book is about the dream of a young boy to one day play football for the great Michigan Wolverines and their lengendary coach, Bo Schembechler. It is a true story. Follow the dream from it's roots to the day of walking into the coaches office to announce the boy's intention to play. The dream comes true and the most unusual journey begins to unfold. The book takes you into the locker room, out on to the field, to playing in front of hundreds of thousands and millions on television. You'll be on center stage at the Rose Bowl and witness all of the oddities that surround major college football from the eyes of the boy who had the dream and became a man, by adopting one of the coach's vision statements, "What the mind can conceive and believe the mind can achieve and those who stay will be champions".

5.0 out of 5 stars Priceless Collection of Stories, November 24, 2008
By
EJR "Ed" (Ann Arbor, MI) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Those Who Stay (Hardcover)
For me this is a priceless collection of stories from a former Wolverine player. Gives you a great feel for the Michigan program under Bo Schembechler during the period of the 10 year war verus Woody Hayes in the mid 1970s. On top of that, is a remarkable tale of a walk on who eventually became a starter for the #1 ranked team in the country and who set a Rose Bowl record for longest touchdown reception. Who needs "Rudy"? Michigan has "Curt", and this is a MUCH better story. I grew up in Ann Arbor in the 1970s and followed the teams Curt played on it. This book brought back a lot of childhood memories for me. Very easy read format. It is a collection of short (a couple of pages each) stories so it is easy to pick up for a few minutes here or there, you don't need to have large blocks of time. I hope they make a movie based on the book. Great read if you are a Michigan fan, or even just a fan of the college game. GO BLUE!

5.0 out of 5 stars Such a great story!, March 8, 2009
By
This review is from: Those Who Stay (Paperback)
This was such a great read. Anyone who has ever chased a dream can relate to it. I could not put it down and read it all in a day! Great insight into some of the inner workings of one, if not THE, greatest college football programs ever from a players perspective. I highly recommend this to fans of the University of Michigan, college football in general and anyone who was determined to accomplish a goal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome stories from someone who experienced Bo first hand., September 1, 2009
This review is from: Those Who Stay (Paperback)
What a great book. Wonderfully descriptive story from an actual student athlete. This book is different because of this very fact. There are lots of books about the Wolverines or Bo. But none of them are from an actual player. Would you trust an opinion and rememberances from someone who was actually there or someone who does research and maybe never even played football or any organized sport.

Any true Wolverine fan or any true college football fan would appreciate this book.
