Book Description

May 22, 2000
The Planet Had No Name!

When the exploratory starship from Earth PolarStar crashed in the ice-covered mountains of the nameless planet the few survivors who made it to the warmer lowlands had no idea just how hostile this world could be.

The plants were poisonous or actively hunted them, the animals were not all that friendly either.

Most of them died. Some had children.

Twenty years have passed and the small settlement between the endless forest and the ice covered mountains is set for a major change. They have started to dream of rescue, of rejoining the human race, of going back to the stars.

But to do that, they will have to risk everything, the lives of their children, and their loves.

“Meet Kir Bulychev, I have a feeling you’ll like one another.” Theodore Sturgeon

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best books of modern Russian SF, August 21, 2001
By
This review is from: Those Who Survive (Paperback)
"Those Who Survive" (original Russian title - "Pereval") from the very first magazine appearance became legendary masterpeace of Russian literary SF. It had a tone, it had a style, it was unusual in wonders of alien world and liveable in human charachters. Just hope John Costello accurately brings all colors of the Bulychev's book to English. It really deserves to be read.

This is a masterpiece of SF from my childhood. I love it!
"Star Wars" and something else are poor and easy.

I wonder why we don't have more Russian authors translated. Those who do not like SCIFI will be instantly converted. An excellent book.
