5.0 out of 5 stars Overlooked Great Read!!!, June 10, 2010

This review is from: Those the sun has loved (Hardcover)
It is always shocking to read a fantastic book that no one knows about. ""Those the Sun Has Loved" is out of print while there are shelves loaded with junk in bookstores. This is absolutely one of my favorites stories. To quote a 4/27/2010 article eulogizing Rose Jourdain by Janet G. Messenger in the Evanston Roundtable, "Those the Sun Has Loved" is a saga of romance, war, politics, adventure and family with history folded in. It stretches over 200 years and seven generations of a free African American family, from 1773 in Surinam on the north coast of South America to the 1970s in the United States." This is a book the reader will not be able to put down once it is begun. There is NO one whom I have shared this book with over the years who did not love it, also.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding book!, November 2, 2010
By
KMmommy (Chicago, IL USA) - See all my reviews
This book is absolutely amazing! I heard about it from a friend of mine after he interviewed famous and historical people who were living in Evanston, IL. The author of this book fit in that category. I just picked it up more out of curiosity than anything. And after nearly 3 days of nonstop reading - I can hardly put it down!! What a fantastic and fascinating saga! This story should be a TV movie. I can't fathom why this book is out of print. Everyone should know the story of Jacques Clavier and the family legacy he left behind. The author based this story on her own families history.
