About the Author

MICHAEL LIPSEY grew up in Chicago, surrounded by an extensive library of books and music. He has written many articles on management, employment, remodeling, music, dance, and community issues. When he isn t writing, he gardens, creates lacquered mirrors adorned with quotations, and enjoys folk dancing. And gives thanks every day for the splendor of Marin County, California.

More About the Author

Michael Lipsey is an epigrammatist (1,500 epigrams) and artist living in California. He is the author of two collections of original epigrams: "I Thought So - A Book of Epigrams" and "I Thought So, Volume 2". He is completing a third book of epigrams, and a book on the history and culture of the plumbing industry tentatively titled "Kitchen Sink Confidential." Ten chapters of the plumbing book are on his website http://ithoughtso.net

He divides his time between writing and artwork. Much of the art is illustrations of the epigrams he has written. One illustration a day is posted on his tumblr blog http://stoicmike.tumblr.com

Epigrams are also frequently tweeted as stoicmike@twitter.com

He likes to hear from readers and can be contacted at stoicmike@gmail.com

As you might have guessed, he is a follower of classic Stoic philosophy. The epigrams range across life, science, religion, culture, manners and many other subjects. They are frequently quoted by teachers and speakers. His epigrams have now been quoted on an estimated 15,000 websites and blogs. What is an epigram? The introductions to his books discuss the long history and style of the epigram.

Format: Paperback
If you like clever, thoughtful bon mots and aphorisms--if Mark Twain and Dorothy Parker are your cup of tea--you'll love Michael Lipsey's new book. Sometimes funny, often thought provoking, and always clever, this is the book to take when you know you will have just a few minutes--or a few hours--to read. I've quoted Michael's book at least ten times in the past month, and bought 25 copies to give away to friends. Open it and enjoy the thoughts of a rare person who can wax philosophical in ten words (or less).

If you enjoy Seinfeld's observations on life and like to intellectually engage your mind without having to work too hard, this book is for you. I keep pulling this book off our coffee table to pass it around when friends are over, since it is so clever and fun to read.
We've earmarked lot's of favorite epigrams.
I've also found many epigrams from "I Thought So" to be useful in the workplace. I highly recommend this book for personal enjoyment and gifts. It really does seem to offer something for everyone.

I was given " I Thought So" just before boarding a transcontinental flight and was grateful to have time to savor Michael Lipsey's epigrams and personal quotations. I had time to ponder his words of wisdam and now find myself quoting him in converstions with friends. I have already given copies of the book to several friends and they have enjoyed it as much as I have.
