5.0 out of 5 stars Is there ever any end to interesting things? May 21, 2012
Format:Paperback
I have always been a fan of the curious and interesting things that surround us in this amazing world. The long string of books, and still continuing daily cartoons, from "Ripley's Believe it or Not!" have entertained and informed me for over 60 years.and they continue without end. While Ripley set the "gold standard" ,others have continued to dig up interesting things to inform, entertain and amaze us.Another author,David Feldman, has continued with his many books such as "Do Penguins Have Knees","When Do Fish Sleep",and others. Then there is the many "Uncle John's Bathroom Readers", that are probably the most well known these days;and a couple of shelves of them can be found in any well stocked bookstore.
To these books, one has to include those by Don Voorhees, with whom I'm just becoming familiar. This one ,"Thoughts for the Throne" and subtitled,The Ultimate Bathroom Book of Useless Information;is well worth considering for anyone who is curious aboun anything and everything.I am a little confused about the 1960 publication date shown here, since my copy shows a publication date of 1995 ans a copyrite of 1993, and also by Citadel Press. The Reviews already posted are in 2008 and 2012;so I suspect the date of 1960 is an error. There are several other books by Don Voorhees listed here on Amazon and all are fairly recent publications.
This book keeps faith with bringing us lots of great information and will surely please anyone who reads it.What surprises me in reading these books is that the topics are well known to us,but for some reason we just take them for granted without giving any thought as to the why or how about them.
I enjoyed this book so much that I just picked up another of Voorhees's gems,"The Perfectly Useless Book of Useless Information" .
