Thousand Arms is in my opinion the best RPG to date on the Playstation console. It has a light spirit but a deep plot. This game is filled with subtle jokes. It will keep you and your friends playing for the entire weekend. (Forget about that homework!) Thousand Arms is not that difficult but it will certainly challenge in some areas. The only complaint that I have about this game is the random battle system. Although almost every RPG has this I wish they would do something new. For example when in a certain dungeon while trying to explore one will keep on continually running into random monsters. This gets very repetetive. The graphics are excelent with some of the best anime every seen on the playstation. This game actually has voice acting although Metal Gear Solid still beats it in this area. This is the only game I have seen on the Playstation where the graphics do not continually shimmer and a another small thing I noticed is that this is the first time a game has actaully done trees right! All in all Thousand Arms is a great game for anyone!

This Could Have Been A Perfect Game, But Oh The Battles!,

I liked the concept of a RPG dating Game. I bought it and was impressed with the way they incorporated the voice overs and just the sheer beauty of the game. But did they have to have so many random battles! I am a true RPG fan, but I have never ever encountered so many battles in a RPG game. It was very difficult to make thorough searches of dungeons without running into a fight every step or just standing too long in the same place. I was also turned around by the camera angles. I must have entered the same area a hundred times, because I was constantly being turned around in all directions. I hope that if a sequel is made, that Atlus heeds the voices of this and other gamer and cut back on the long, drawn-out and quite repetitive battles! This game could have scored a 10 if not for the above mentioned drawbacks.

Anime RPG Game with a Twist,

Forget the standard Final Fantasystory line. In Thousand Arms you play as Mice Triumph a letcherous young man on a quest to regain his kingdom, and woo any young woman in his path. The game features the best voice overs in any game the Playstation has ever made and the graphics are a culmination of Lunar 2 and Final Fantasy VII. For anyone who wants to have a wonderful story in the tradition of anime, and laugh for hours at some of the funniest dialoge yet, then look no farther then Thousand Arms. Warning the game while not anymore violent then any of the Lunar games does contain quite a few sexual innuendos, partly spawning form the unique system of this game where you can go on dates with each girl and try to win her over. This game is suggested for an audience 13 and up.

Ignore those people who whine about the graphics. They fail to notice how much more detailed and stylized the characters and enemies are in it. I'm bored of the same old ff7 fights. And think of the people on the map and towns as little SD's running around!Thousand Arms is different. Different not always necessarily good, but in my opinion this is. After playing games that are much too serious and focus too much on graphics (FF8) its nice to be able to actually enjoy and laugh in a game. If you give it a chance and maybe get an online walkthrough (just in case right? ^_~) you'll have a great time. This sort of game can actually make you _want_ to defeat a boss. Be it for a corny attack phrase or even a pompous voice. Maybe that character was really really asking for a beating? Many of them do, especially this one guy man was he asking for it... anyway There are several hilarious scenes in it, very memorable. Overall this game surprised, impressed, amused, enraged, and won my respect as a great attempt at an rpg. 4 stars for some small qualms of mine.

I think this game is one of the best RPG's to come from Japan. I have heard so much abotu the RPG-dating scenario style games. It sounded so surreal, and so when this came to the US, I had to snap it up! It is a lot of fun. The dating makes my fiancee and I laugh out loud and EVERY character that advances the plot has a voice! It really adds a lot to the game. The only problem, is the nonstop random montser battles. If they were a little tougher and a lot less frequent, the game wouldn't have been such an easy walk through for me. For adults and long time Roleplayers, this game is a MUST have!

Thousand Arms is one of the best RPGs available on the PSX. The characters are engaging, the storyline is deep, and the dialogue is especially witty. The dating simulations are sweet as well as hilarious. The only downfalls are the frequent battles and the fact that, although Thousand Arms is fairly long, it's a lot easier to beat than most RPGs on the PSX.

LOVED it! It's too bad the Final Fantasy series is ALWAYS in the spotlight. It's good, but not that good. FF8 is VERY BORING. It only got 5 stars cuz people tend to go along with everyone else. Thousand Arms has personality, and much more humor than most other RPGs. Unlike the Final Fantasy series, the characters actually speak rather than only reading text. The voices are excellent as well, not to mention. It's my 2nd favorite RPG(since I love RPG's, that'd make it my favorite of all) of all time. ^_^ Very uniqe, very fun, impressive animation. Watcha waiting for? GET IT! And by the way, video game corporations are watching this. The more people that buy it, the more anime games they'll release. --- Favorites: Lunar SSSC Thousand Arms Final Fantasy 7

A fun romp through the world of Dating Sims...,

Thousand Arms is a Dating Sim turned RPG. That's really what you have to call it because it still holds most strongly to the elements of a Dating Sim-- not to say it doesn't have depth.I personally thought the graphics were fine, I prefer 2D much more than 3D graphics, and the anime style was fitting. The game wouldn't have been the same if it was CG graphics. The battle system was a fairly new approach, but it wasn't to my liking. You only get to battle with one character at a time, while the other characters may do things like cast support magic, etc. Personally, I didn't like this approach, because it closes off the freedom to do things like combos, etc. But it is always nice to have someone in the back ranks to keep as a designated healer, etc. The dungeons were a little tedious and repetitve at times, although I didn't think the random battles were too excessive. The dungeons weren't as interactive or fun as one might hope, they were more like long tedious puzzles that you want to get through as fast as possible. The dating part of the game was interesting, especially because some of the questios the girls ask are so absurd! You date the different woman throughout the game, and depending on how good of a time they had you can raise their Intimacy level. By doing this you are able to forge different types of weapons. They also may give you a kiss, and eventually you will be able to collect the kisses you get and trade them in for items. All of the characters were cute, and fun to get to know. Meis is a likable guy, and they chose to do voice-overs which I thought went over pretty well. I don't like voice-overs at all in my games, but it was a good casting and it didn't bother me as much as most. In the end, I would reccomend trying out the game first from a rental store and seeing how you like it. It appeals to different people on different levels. Most people either love it, or they hate it... and few tolerate it. If it sounds interesting enough to you, go for it and buy! You get some nice little goodies too. |
