Great B&W photos and write-ups for many of the buildings that make London what it is. If you are thinking that with a base number of 1000, you're going to have to read about some "fillers", you don't really know London. I'm sure the author has to make some agonizing decisions. I really miss some of my favorites, but this is more than offset by some amazing new discoveries. I live in Los Angeles, and can only afford to visit London every few years or so, but this book does a good job of soothing my homesick pangs in between. Coupled with Google's surface maps, I can almost be there. I won't go so far as to say that this will make you a London fan if you're not already one, but for those of us who know that amazing city, this is an invaluable reference.

I have visited London,on and off for over 5o years, yet I discovered some history, history of buidings, and streets I did not know.

The photos[ in black& white] are outstanding: clear, sharp and paralaxed corrected.the explanations are concised .

the maps are clear and accurate.

A very interesting and fascinating book. Very popular reading on the den's table.

all 1,000? No way. Too big to have as a travel companion but so many memories that it should be owned by everyone who loves London.

Instead of a guide this this much better. With a 1,000 pictures it give you a real idea what London is really like, Great Book. Great Photography. ( Even if it is in black and white)
