5.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining & humorous look at celebrity life - Well written!
I was lucky to get a sneak peek and I love it- laughed all the way through. The character of Kat is very similar to a certain famous pop star in real life, was she inspired by Britney Spears?

This book would make a fun movie- I can totally see Barrett, Kat and Arvis all so clearly, not to mention the hunky Marco Hart. I hear there is going to be a sequel...

3.0 out of 5 stars Somewhat pleased
I was expecting a lot from this book because it was highly recommended by Jen Lancaster. I have to say I was disappointed in the ending. There was a lot of character development which I liked but I felt the ending was rushed. It was an easy read but it was not worth paying full price for.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great for gossip lovers, story a little thin., November 21, 2008
This review is from: A Thousand Dollars For A Kiss (Paperback)
I will wholeheartedly admit my addiction to gossip sites such as Perez Hilton and Dlisted. I was also raised on a steady diet of Star magazine and Entertainment Tonight. However, as much as I loved the allusion to Britney Spears and K-Fed, I was really surprised by the poor editing of the book. From the formatting errors on the first page to just bad grammar...I was a little embarrassed for the author. The story itself was a thin; the characters were one dimensional, storylines seemed to disappear (hello, Arvis? Are you there?). I wanted to love the protagonist, but at times she was such an idiot I wanted to kick her.

But...and there is a big but here....the author is from Jersey, loves gossip and she is creative enough....so I'll probably buy more of her books for the mindless entertainment.

This book would make a fun movie- I can totally see Barrett, Kat and Arvis all so clearly, not to mention the hunky Marco Hart. I hear there is going to be a sequel and I will be first in line to buy a copy. Well done! I recommend this debut novel to those who know the author from her famous celebrity gossip blog and to those looking for an entertaining, humorous, satirical look at Hollywood life.

5.0 out of 5 stars More wonderfulness from Distressed Jeans, January 7, 2007
This review is from: A Thousand Dollars For A Kiss (Paperback)
I first became introduced to Cindy's wit and tone through her blog, Conversatons About Famous People, always a funny and highly entertaining read. I was looking forward to her first novel, and was not disappointed. Barret is a loveable albeit flawed heroine, and I loved reading about her adventures with Kat Savage, an obvious parallel to Britney Spears. If you have not done so, I suggest you visit her blog archives and read Britney's Letters of Troof. Highly entertaining. I look forward to the sequel. This was a light, fun read, and hard to put down. Excellent work, Cindy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Yikes!, January 9, 2007
This review is from: A Thousand Dollars For A Kiss (Paperback)
Sorry to disagree with the previous reviewers but I did not like this book. Sure, the story is quick and breezy but the writing is atrocious. The characters were obvious and one-dimensional, some descriptive passages were repeated as tho' the author had only a single way to describe a person or situation and had to just use the same words again and again. And the edited was embarrassing. An item of clothing with "leafs" on it? How does one pluralize the word "leaf"? Anyone want to guess?

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fun Read, July 8, 2008

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was funny and since I live in Hollywood, I could totally relate. I could see this being made into a movie and Courtney Love playing Kat! This book is fun for a summer read by the pool.

As an avid reader of Cindy's blogs online, I was looking forward to her first published novel. It did not let me down! This book was funny and hard to put down. I literally stayed up until 5am and read the book in one night. She leaves the reader eagerly anticipating a sequel. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is into chick lit, Hollywood or celebrity gossip.

Great job, Cindy!

I really enjoy the author's writing on her blog, but I'm returning this book to Amazon. It's tough when you can't stand the main character.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute tale of a Woman's dream to be part of the celebrity world!, January 9, 2007

This book is such a fun story. The detail the author goes into is amazing. It's also an easy book to read. You remember the characters without having to flip back and forth to previous chapters. This book really makes you think about the "fairytale" life a celebrity lives. This is a great book.

Any book that I can read in under a week (busy, hectic life that I have) is rated very high by me. Cindy's first book is funny and engaging and just really sucks you in. Of course this is fiction, but you can almost believe that this story could really happen! Cindy has a true talent for writing, as anyone who has followed her blogs would know. I can't wait to see what comes out of her next! This is an excellent book, and I highly recommend it. You won't be disappointed!
