Vanessa Carlton is a great artist. She has a very interesting voice, sometimes soft and sweet, sometimes strong and moving. Her compositions are very diverse, her piano playing is perfectly suited to her voice and her music, and 1000 miles is surely one of the best pop song I've heard in a long time. Check out the album, it's full of great songs, my favorite being "Pretty Baby". It's great to hear Vanessa Carlton in the middle of all the commercial ... we are served every day on the radio and the tv. I can't wait to see her live in France.

This girl is really talented. Please don't give something a bad review for no good reason. Maybe it was played 500 times because it was good? Great song, great artist.

Too much piano & not a very good voice,

Piano in pop/rock is usually best kept in the background. There are some exceptions to this rule. John Lennon's "Imagine", for one, but that's a ballad. Piano in uptempo pop? Only Elton John and Billy Joel should really be allowed to do that. I find it hard to describe the piano playing here other than it sounds rather juvenile.Beyond that, however, Vanessa Carlton really can't sing--at least not on this particular single. She sounds like she's trying too hard to sound "soulful", or something. At least she's on pitch, but her vocals here are very annoying to me. The song itself isn't too bad, though the subject matter is common and overused and the lyrics aren't particularly inspired. This would have sounded a lot better with a different vocalist and a backing of acoustic guitar, bass, and drums, I think.

One Of The Most Annoying Songs Of The Summer.,
By Super Pimp (Las Vegas) - See all my reviews

The summer was filled with alot of horrible hits, and Vanessa Carlton's hit A Thousand Miles is no exception.I have always hated this song, but it just became much more aggravating when it went popular.Summer songs are supposed to usually be catchy, not stupid like this one.
