About the Author

Vladimir Morosan is one of the leading Western specialists in the field of Russian Orthodox sacred music. For the past 30 years he has been active as a conductor of this music, both in churches and on the concert stage. His book, Choral Performance in Pre-Revolutionary Russia (published in 1986), is considered to be the definitive study on this topic. Since 1987, he has been president of Musica Russica, a publishing house specializing in Orthodox and Russian choral music, and has served as Editor-in-Chief of the Monuments of Russian Sacred Music series; his editions of Russian choral masterworks have been performed and recorded by some of the leading choirs in the US, Canada, and Europe. He is President of the Board of Directors of PSALM, Inc., an organization dedicated to the advancement of Eastern Orthodox Liturgical Music in America.
