5.0 out of 5 stars Sooo Beautiful!!!
I Love "A Thousand Summers." It's gorgeous, it's lush...it's really the most beautiful music I have ever heard. Tim Janis writes the soundtrack for life. I have some of his other CDs and this one is quickly becoming my favorite!

2.0 out of 5 stars A Disappointment
Unlike his recent releases, Water's Edge and Live, this album represents all that is often wrong with "New Age" music. There is nothing throughout this album but a collection of aimless tracks thrown together. The songs, in and of themselves, really have no point or audible climax to them. In effect, A Thousand Summers is elevator music, pure and...

5.0 out of 5 stars Tim's Most Beautiful Compositions, July 29, 2002

This is probably Tim Janis's best work. The melodies are simply breathtaking. Tim usually comes up outstanding themes for his songs and this cd proves once again how great he really is. I dont know of a single composer who can come up with such memorable songs. Bravo!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Thousand Cheers, June 16, 2002

Tim Janis has more than surpassed himself in his new album. His compositions are stirring, moving and guaranteed to put you in a mellow, relaxed state of inner serenity. A Thousand Summers is aptly named as it evokes memories of summers past;feelings of today's summer, and dreams of future summers where the unknown will become the known. Just when you think you have heard the greatest track, you suddenly hear another one equally as great. The entire disc is completely listenable. He plays upon his fondness for celtic music by incorporating the flute and pennywhistle in several compositions. The violin accompaniments are near ethereal.Three tracks have a marvelous piano reprise. This album will only rouse your feelings of peace and harmony. Each time I play it I find I like it better than the last playing. I highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Marva Jo Thomas, May 31, 2003

I have three of this remarkable composer's CDs. This is my favorite. If you are like me and aren't able to actually travel to locations where the ocean surf and the tide can wash over you, then get this CD and let the music wash over you and take you away. Just close your eyes and you'll be able to see all the beauty of the sea and the mountains, the flowing rivers and the wind. My first experience with his music was Tim Janis, An American composer in concert. I didn't think anything could top that, but this one does. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another sublime Tim Janis CD, February 22, 2003

Many artists have a good CD or two and then seem to regress in their creative/artistic development, but the music of Tim Janis continues to progress and this latest CD is evidence. "A Thousand Summers" is a delight for this Tim Janis fan with a variety of songs that are fresh and alive topped, in my opinion, by "Grand Lake". Any Tim Janis fan should be very happy with this CD. The melodies are well worth repeated listens, which I always find calming and uplifting.

For those of you who haven't heard his music, I would suggest getting this CD and if you listen to it five times, I promise you'll be hooked. I've encouraged multiple people to try this and those who did have become fans and repeatedly give thanks for the suggestion, and provide glowing comments on the music.

I own all of the Tim Janis CDs and I am in love with A Thousand Summers! This makes me dream of the vacations I spend with my family on the California coast. My favorite tracks are Morro Bay and For Only A Moment...a definite necessity for any Tim Janis fan or a fan of breathtaking, relaxing music. Amazing!

4.0 out of 5 stars familiar and lovely, August 28, 2008

Like a family where all the children look similar, Janis' music is clearly his own. Some sections are reminiscent of other pieces of his, but not so much so as to be repetitive. This is a pleasant contemplative album, typical of what I have come to expect and appreciate in his work.

I have been listening to Beautiful America quite a bit lately and wanted a fresh sound. This CD, though not as wonderful as Beautiful America, delivered 100% of what I was hoping for. It currently rates 2nd or 3rd on my list of Janis favorites.
