3.0 out of 5 stars Thrall: Demonsweatlive
Thrall is the EP in between How The God's Kill & 4p. The first 3 songs "It's Coming Down"- (which just feels like the main riff to "Evil Thing" in different key with a heavier guitar sound) "Violent Fire" & the Presley cover "Trouble"- to me sound like they could've easily found their way on How The God's Kill or 4p. "It's Coming Down" isn't a bad song really but slightly...

3.0 out of 5 stars Thrall: Demonsweatlive, June 26, 2010
This review is from: Thrall: Demonsweatlive (Audio CD)
Thrall is the EP in between How The God's Kill & 4p. The first 3 songs "It's Coming Down"- (which just feels like the main riff to "Evil Thing" in different key with a heavier guitar sound) "Violent Fire" & the Presley cover "Trouble"- to me sound like they could've easily found their way on How The God's Kill or 4p. "It's Coming Down" isn't a bad song really but slightly regurgitated. (See above) It's heavy doom metal inspired break down section is what gives the song life. "Violent Fire" is a mid tempo track that at first didn't do anything for me. It wasn't until repeated listens that I realized it's genius. In the end- it sounds like Danzig with an eerie clean guitar playing slightly augmented chords. (Sounds like Danzig himself playing those parts)- There's a bit of a Samhain feel to it. "Trouble" is the Elvis cover & one of the ep's highlights. Glenn's voice was made for Elvis songs. The next 4 tracks are live versions of Danzig classics- "snakes of christ", "i am demon", the ballad "sistanas" and closing off the live side of the EP is "Mother"- which shouldn't be confused with "Mother 93" which appears as the hidden bonus track. I don't really have much of an opinion on the live Danzig stuff. It's okay but don't expect a polished mix. It basically sounds like it came off the sound board without any subsequent mixing. "Mother 93" you've probably heard one million times on the radio so for me to comment further would be redundant. Overall- it's leans on the side of "worthy of picking up" but it's not as strong as other Danzig releases with this line up are.
