Book Description

Thraxas Novels June 3, 1999
It's not been a good morning for Thraxas. A vindictive judge has just fined him every guran he has, and two old enemies have threatened his life. And to cap it all, the rainy season has started and it's as wet as a mermaid's blanket in the magical city of Turai.

4.0 out of 5 stars humorous fantasy mystery, February 1, 2008

This review is from: Thraxas at the Races (Thraxas Novels) (Paperback)
Thraxas is a not-well-enough-known series of funny fantasy mystery novels, kinda like Hawk&Fisher visit Discworld.

Important to note that Death and Thraxas is two complete hard to find novels- "Thraxas at the Races" & "Thraxas and the Elvish Isles", both out of print.

Oddly, this world uses Vancian Magic!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not Free SF Reader, September 2, 2007
This review is from: Thraxas at the Races (Thraxas Novels) (Paperback)
Thraxas is a man who likes a beer, and a pie, and maybe a chaser, or dessert. Anyway, he is also a bloke that likes a punt. He's a natural for a job involving the local racing industry, and this is why his old army commander comes to him for help.

The ex-boss ends up dead, and a couple of Thraxas' highly placed enemies would be happy to see him go down for murder.
