There seems to be a disturbing trend in the sewing machine embroidery world of taking a single idea and trying to turn it into a book. The technique described, while attractive, could easily be covered in a magazine article or at most a chapter in a book.

This is a great book for the beginner as well as the experienced free form embroidery hobbiest. The instructions are clear and the photos are inspiring. If you try just one of the simple designs, you will want to make another and another.

Libby has shown me through her book of Threadplay, that quilting can be so much more than what quilting used to be. I love her choice of colors and patterns.I truely admire her work and would highly recomend this book.

Fantastic! The detailed descriptions and explanations regarding everything from your machine, needles, threads, stabilisers, take away that frustration of not knowing what to use, where and when. The techniques are described in easy to understand formats with practical exercises for creating articles. One of the best books that I have read in this field.

Unlike a prior reviewer, I don't find this a 'one idea' book. Having done machine embroidery for more than 20 years, 'way before these new embroidery machines, I look for books like these for ideas and new techniques. I don't purchase them for how-to particularly.

This is a beautiful book and one I'm delighted to have on my shelf.

My copy, from Auntie M's Booksale on Amazon market place answers all the questions regarding threads, stabilizers, type of hoops and needles, and best of all, has beautiful photos to add to the words and demonstrate techniques of applique, the full story for quilting and finishing. It has ideas which have my grand daughters telling me to make them this one or that one, and ideas that I will have to do in the wee small hours, just to try to do them for myself. Libby says that her 'dream is forevery thread player to need a second copy because their first one is completely worn out.' Libby's style of writing, setting out and use of photography will encourage me to not just flick through this book, but to refer to it frequently.

I love the pictures of the book and very well written! I would recommend this to not just people who enjoy Embroidery but also folks who enjoy artwork as this is what Libby has turned this into. Great Coffee table book.

A ture eye candy book. Wonderful ideas which work with practice and experience. Enjoyable reading.

Very detailed instructions for completing a quilt top by her method. I would love to see one of her quilts and enjoy the depth of design.

The information in this book is not what I'm looking for, but adaptable for my purposes. The book isn't the problem -- it's my interpretion of the description.
