A very good book to help the broken hearted heal,
By A Customer
This review is from: Threads of Hope, Pieces of Joy: A Pregnancy Loss Bible Study (Paperback)
I bought this book shortly after losing my baby after birth. I have to say that my first reaction to the book was anger. There is a fictional story that runs through the book, a grandmother's relationship to her 7 granddaughters, that mirror blessing, loss and our relationship with God. At first I was angry, but the anger was a good thing, because I came to realize through the story that I was angry because I felt cheated and left out- my baby had died and everyone else was getting a living child. I persevered through the book through, and it helped me so much to deal with the confusing tangle of emotions that I was dealing with. Every feeling, no matter how painful must be dealt with eventually, or healing can not occur. The moment in the book that was such a freeing revelation for me, was one section that deals with parents feeling at fault for their child's death... After the book gently used the scriptures to point out why my daughter's death was not my fault, I felt a huge release. The book would have been worth every penny of expense for that moment alone. It is a wonderful book. One I would recommend to any grieving parent who has lost a precious baby at any time during or after birth. It is not a book you can rush through though. Take in as much as you can and work your way through on your own time-table. Because each chapter deals with a different step in the grieving process, I found I could not move on to the next step unless I was in that phase of grief. Also, I had the priviledge of meeting one of the authors via the internet through a support group I was a part of, and she is just a wonderful person. I wholeheartedly recommend this book.

A lifeline,

This Bible study has been the most productive step I've taken to heal after two miscarriages that occurred only six months apart. It is written from the hearts of the two women who wrote it, and will speak to yours. It truly has helped me down the road of healing, and made me believe again that God really does care about my heartbreak. I often worked on the chapters before bedtime and found those nights were the ones I slept the best. And sleep has not been easy to come by. I have worked through the book solo, but it also is suited to a group study.

I recently completed this Biblestudy with a group through our local Pregnancy Center. I lost a baby last June at 18wks. This book is excellent and was just what I needed to hear. I would encourage anyone who has had a miscarriage, stillbirth or childloss experience to go through this book with a group or a friend.
