In the war on terrorism, the Secretary of Defence assembles an elite new armed forces group made up of the best from the special forces, intelligence, and technological communities. A team designed for this new war - to move undetected in foreign countries, strike and disappear. To fight terror where it lives and breathes - in the shadows. Led by hardened veteran Master Sergeant Edwin Storey, the unit is ready for action when a plot to assassinate the president is discovered. But an even greater threat lies ahead, as Storey and his team must race to stop a devastating attack that stands to cripple national security and cause the deaths of thousands - dwarfing the destruction of 9/11...

5.0 out of 5 stars From The Author, October 14, 2005
This review is from: Threat Level (Mass Market Paperback)
Since we've experienced some problems getting a book description up on the page, I wanted to post this for the benefit of interested readers. I'll skip the usual publishing hype. This is a contemporary thriller dealing with Al Qaeda terrorism. Frustrated by the course of the war on terrorism, the Secretary of Defense has formed a covert unit of the most experienced special operators in the military to move around the world in small teams hunting terrorist leaders. This team, led by Master Sergeant Ed Storey of Delta Force (or Combat Applications Group if you prefer), begins with the capture and elimination of an Al Qaeda cell in the Philippines. The strike uncovers a plot to assasinate the American President during his tour of Asia in 2003. Simultaneously, the FBI in the U.S. is investigating possible terrorist cells in Virginia and Michigan. The action moves through Pakistan, Thailand, Malaysia, and back to the U.S.. Just when it seems that the terrorist plot is becoming clear, it turns out to be something larger, different, and totally unexpected. The scenarios are real world, and the special ops techniques and Al Qaeda methods are the current state of the art. Check it out. By the way, I only put up the stars because Amazon made me. You won't feel ripped off--you've got my word on it.
