Book Description

1987
This memoir was written about America's greatest artist, Alexander Calder, and his whole family of artists by his only sibling, Margaret Calder Hayes. This is a touching and enriching story of how artistic talent was encouraged and fostered within the Calder family. "Peggy" Hayes wrote this book while in her '80's. She reflects on the important aspects of her life with brother Sandy, her father, Alexander Sterling Calder and mother Nanette Lederer Calder (a talented artist in her own right) and her grandfather, Alexander Milne Calder. As an octogenarian, her perspective is expecially valuable.

3.0 out of 5 stars Three Alexander Calders, April 6, 2000
This review is from: Three Alexander Calders: A family memoir (Paperback)
One particular work of Alexander Stirling Calder has inspired me to live, learn and write. For that, I am eternally grateful. His statue of Leif Eirkisson, possibly the most famous statue of the Norse Explorer in the world, is a true tribute to the power of the Viking Age.
