Book Description

March 1992
The Three Days is a completely rewritten, expanded version of the book that for ten years helped parishes prepare the liturgies of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and the Easter Vigil. The pages of this revised edition are illuminated with original woodblock prints by Nina Morlan. Those responsible for parish liturgy and those who minister at the liturgy will find here an approach to the spirit and the practicalities of the Triduum. The three principal liturgies are discussed from every angle, but all the details do not obscure a strong sense for each for each liturgy's structure and flow. The book makes its greatest contribution as the author presents these days, and their liturgies within them, as the deed of each church, a single deed with many moments. Only in such an all-involving stance can the central work of initiation be done. Practical items abound in the appendix: a resource list; sample homily for Palm Sunday; preparing the garments, candles bread. --- from book's back cover

This review is from: The Three Days: Parish Prayer in the Paschal Triduum (Paperback)
I used this book as a source while writing a paper for a theology class. It was recommended to me by my Byzantine priest. It gives the single most beautiful description of the rites and sacraments as performed by the early Christians. Using a fictitious character, the author sweeps the reader into an incense filled baptismal describing every detail of the Sacred Triduum. An absolutely beautiful book, it would make for a wonderful required read just prior to the Confirmation, Baptism and First Communion of an adult class. Additionally, it could be used in a pre-confirmation class. Whether you are Christian, Catholic, Orthodox or even another faith, you will find this book an uplifting gem.
