Three Dimensional Embroidery Stitches,
By
This review is from: Three-Dimensional Embroidery Stitches (Needlecrafts Series) (Paperback)
I found the book full of new stitches as well as adding color. Watercolor is amazing on fabric, with new watercolor crayons and just a light touch. The imformation on the needle stitching is wonderful and a new way of design.
Each page and stitch, had a picture to help the beginner as well as the the advanced needle worker. One thing, good for a library addition, but not enough pages for the beginner.

Expand your decorative techniques in fiber arts,

Some may say the directions in this book contain too few stitch types, but hey, where is your own creative growth from learning from a few standard to advance 3-D stitches to produce your own work of art? So many want to be hand held through each art project, while I use each book as a tool and this one is GREAT! My fiber art projects, currently focused with handmade and/or decorated purses, mini art quilts, revamped clothing, and unusual jewel pieces (very unusual!!!), have really benefitted from this book and a couple of others in my reference library. Not all are created equal and none cover all of the techniques available. I really enjoyed this book for the stitches and most of all, making rocks!!! Hmmm...I guess I am a rock lover at heart (former geologist/paleontologist--honest). Playing around with colored crayons and watercolor pencils to begin the process of developing a dynamic background followed by a few items developed by threads, via the technique from this book and those from others, allow me to really expand my own unique style. So thanks to Pat Trout for putting this nice book together; other books from this publisher are also worthy additions to my library and possibly yours if you are interested in expanding your fiber art techniques. Enjoy!

Intrigued by the Brazilean dimensional embroidery. But put off by prices. Looked for other "dimensional" embroidery books. Stitches are the same although Brazilean thread is twisted in opposite direction so you have allow when wrapping needle etc. if you are using it. Book is excellent. I may actually do some of the projects not just learn stitches. Although I could use some more guidance on assembling the stitches into the finished work i.e. multiple rows of picots to make owl or sunflowers. Expect I'll figure it out with practice. Actually teaches a few stitches I've never come across before.

Loved the simpleness of creating a backdrop of color using iron on crayons. After transferring crayon colored image to fabric, I was ready to learn the lavish embroidery techniques taught in the book. Practice makes perfect and I love the end result! Detailed techniques and great ideas included. Very inspiring.

Excellent resource,

I've been crazy quilting for approximately 10 years and have a large collection of excellent books. This ranks among my favorites. I find the instructions easy to follow and the three-dimensional effect offers excellent contrast in my work.

I am not happy with the book. The illustrations are wonderful but where are the instructions. All you get are the stitches used not step by step. I tried to do the sunflower and have not been successful. I am not happy with the book

This is small book, but one that is just enough and not overwhelming. Most of the instructions in it are very easy to follow. I enjoyed practising embroidering couple of flowers presented in this book.
