Product of China, July 3, 2007
This review is from: Three Dog Bakery We Pity the Kitties Salmon Cat Treats (1 Ounce) (Kitchen)
First off, I love this product. It is the only cat treat made from 100% meat, with no wheat, rice, corn, or meat by-products added. As a result, it is a perfect treat for all cats, because as you may not be aware of, there is a feline diabetes epidemic just like in people, not because cats are eating more but because of what cats are eating, namely high glycemic carbohydrates (including sugars, rice, wheat, and corn). So, you are doing your cat a huge favor by giving them a diet concentrated in protein-rich meat and avoiding high-glycemic carbohydrates. That said, the one downside to this is the disclaimer right on the bag (inside the box): "Product of China. 100% Wild Alaskan Salmon. Caught in Alaska and shipped to be freeze-dried and packaged in China." Given that the Chinese government themselves recently closed 180 food processing plants down for using industrial toxic chemicals in the processing of food, specifically seafood, I'm not sure I trust any food product packaged in China regardless of the fact that the raw inputs are from the U.S. I hate to give this product less than 5 stars, but this is a very legitamate concern when choosing food products or pet food, and my hope is that Three Dog Bakery starts packaging this in the U.S given that they proudly state that all their ingredients come from the U.S and have not been part of any pet food recall. Better safe than sorry. I will gladly edit my rating once this product stops shipping from China.

Thse are a splurge but pretty compareable in price to other/commercial freeze dried meat and fish treats (such as Halo). Plus, they have much less questionable filler and junk in them, and the kitties love them! Both of them stop whatever they're doing and come running if there's any hint of a treat!
They go really fast around here but, if your kitty is a pickier eater and take longer than a month to finish, I would definately recommend placing "left overs" into an airtight container and then placing them in the fridge. They're freeze dried so they can pull moisture out of the air and can start to spoil and go rancid.

Kitten crack, December 14, 2004

I've never seen a cat react like this to a treat. My "tubby tabby" will run across the room, leap over furniture and run up to the top of his cat tree to chase down a single piece. I trained him to use his scratch pad with these treats (scratch the pad, get a treat); now he runs over to the scratcher, scratches furiously for a few seconds, and looks at me expectantly. Even my dog loves them!
(To be fair, my other cat is somewhat "meh" about them, so they might not work for all cats.)
Pricey, but definitely worth it.
