From 1968 through the early 1970s, while Three Dog Night was hitting high notes of critical and commercial success, Chuck Negron was sinking into the darkness of drug addiction. From the graphic tale of the rock stars rise to fame to his fall from grace, this book details his trip.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Chuck Negron has found a new passion for living in recovery. It's his heartsong. A kind of spiritual jazz. He celebrates the give and take of true community. Gives it away to keep it... in a way that we both ignored when we were using. I think Chuck and I have found a sense of belonging and of usefulness that tops any drug high." -- Paul Williams "Grammy-winning songwriter ("An Old-Fashioned Love Song")"

2.0 out of 5 stars Nothing Really New, April 4, 2008
This review is from: Three Dog Nightmare: The Continuing Chuck Negron Story (Paperback)
This book is merely "Three Dog Nightmare" with added chapters and updating. Up to Chapter 31 its the same as the original book. I was hoping it was some different views or just another take on Chuck Negron's life and music. It is not a bad book just not want I expected.

4.0 out of 5 stars Chuck at my house, February 19, 2010
This review is from: Three Dog Nightmare: The Continuing Chuck Negron Story (Paperback)
Chuck Negron and 3 Dog Night performed in Salt Lake City in I believe 1969. After the show Chuck came over to my house. He was loaded, but well-mannered and mellow. He spent the entire night playing with my kitten. I read Chuck's book, but didn't buy it. The price is shamefull. I got mine at the library.(Sorry Chuck and Amazon)I found the book to be entertaining and enlightening. I also found it frightening that a man of such talent could slide from the top to the bottom due to drugs. Did you notice I didn't say surprised? How many other talented and creative musicians, writers et al have crashed and burned, and even died? Every drug addict should read this book. Chuck is scary thruthful about his drug problems. The insights into the band are eye-opening, but they are just from Chuck's perspective. I would wager that Danny and Cory have a different take on what occurred to one of the best bands of the sixties and seventies. I am amazed that "The Dogs" lasted so long. Read this book it is a good read. If you are stuck on drugs keep it in your pocket and read a chapter BEFORE you stick that needle in your body. Who knows, it might stop you...We can all dream...I hope it works for you.
