(RAW Rating 4.5) I'll Be There,

This review is from: Three Doors Down (Indigo) (Paperback)
Kayla is a divorcee living in Dover, Delaware with two teenage daughters, Kaitlyn and Kamry, who together have sworn off men and boys in an effort to get their lives back on track. But, is the sworn pact a true testament to their needs, or is it a selfish ploy by Kayla because of the hurt felt by the failure of her marriage? THREE DOORS DOWN by Michele Sudler showcases the lives of these three women and a man, Marley, who lives three doors down.
For months Marley has watched and pined after Kayla. A chance introduction leads to seduction which leads to a relationship, or so it seems. Seeing the sparks fly between their mother and Marley leads the girls to set up a date for the two. Marley is a member of a motorcycle club and he asks Kayla to accompany him to their chapter's annual picnic. The girls are hyped because maybe, just maybe, their mother will ease up and allow them to spend time with their friends, go to parties and possibly date. Kayla's girls are as different as night and day, one is prissy and selfish, while the other is a tomboy and very athletic. However, neither girl can spread their wings because their mother is overbearing and overprotective. Michele Sudler's story is very enlightening and her characterizations are realistic. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the antics of the girls and the secondary characters as they plot to set their mother up. The addition of Marley's brothers, friends and co-workers add spice to the storyline and assist with the understanding of the main characters' psyche and experiences. It was truly a treat to watch their involvement. Her take on family and the imagery she displays for all of the characters is on point, this includes the sex scenes which are detailed and tantalizing. Michele Sudler's romance, THREE DOORS DOWN, hits the mark on single parenting, teenage relationships, healthy self-esteem and a host of issues as it relates to family values and character. With the addition of a lot of humor, this is an excellent romantic read. Also, I do see another story on the horizon; Marley's brother, the infamous Nester, definitely has a story to tell. ....however, it was a wonderful read. I loved Marley and Kayla together. This book was worth it, although I was a little disappointed that the characters were not interracial based on the book cover.

What a DELIGHTFUL romantic treat! Although I have a few of Michele Sudler's novels, this is the FIRST one I've actually read. I was CAPTIVATED from the first page. Ms. Sudler tackles several issues confronting women of all ages with regards to the dating scene. I enjoyed the matchmaking schemes of Kayla's best friend, Wanda and her two lovable teenage daughters. Ms. Sudler weaves a touching, humorous, and SPICY read. I found all the characters engaging and MEMORABLE. The few sexy encounters between Kayla and Marley are definitely HOT, HOT, HOT (my husband definitely needs to get a motorcycle)...LOL. I found the ending REFRESHING and believable. And I look forward to reading more about the Jarnette family and their circle of friends. Well done, Ms. Sudler!

I'll keep this short. Kayla was abused by her husband for years. When she finally left him she swore off men and made her daughters do the same even though they didn't want to. Kayla had issues and needed professional help. She was angry, controlling and hostile towards her daughters. You would think that she would be less of a control freak or so willing and eagar to use physical punishment towards her daughters. Her solution to every problem with her daughters was to get a belt and beat them. The same thing her husband did to her. That's why I said thearpy should have been a part of the story line. Marley was okay but the author didn't give him much depth. I didn't understand why he was attracted to Kayla especially when she opened her mouth.
Kayla wasn't a positve person and I just didn't like her character. She was too messed up to be in a relationship. The author had the basis for a good story of a scared woman making positive chances in her life with a new man but instead I was left feeling underwhelmed. Marly and Kayla lacked chemistry and real passion. I don't mind if a main character has issues it can make a story more realistic but only if the author can show how a woman can over come her past and find true self worth and happiness. Which in my opinion this author did not do. I don't recommend this book.

Nice Light Romantic Read,

I like any book that makes me want more. I really liked this book and I wanted to know more about the other characters, like Nestor, Danger and how Robert and LaToya got together.
While, I enjoyed reading about Kayla and Marley, I was disappointed by the ending - what ending. I turned the page and the book was over - literally. I guess I am used to an epilogue. Overall, an enjoyable read.

In Dover, Delaware, Kayla, a divorcee and mother of two, is trying to remain strong and keep men out of her and her girls' lives in hopes that she and her teenaged daughters, Kaitlyn and Kamry, can remain focused. An undeniable spark between Marley, the guy THREE DOORS DOWN, and Kayla turns into a full blown plot with the girls assisting Marley in hopes of gaining a social life themselves. Is Kayla ready to throw in the towel? Or is there still too much pain from her past?
THREE DOORS DOWN is a great book. I especially liked that the story deals with a mother and daughters. Reviewed by: Carmen

I absolutely enjoyed this book. Love the twist of getting the children involved in the making of a love story between their mom and the man three doors down and well as the motorcycle scene between the main characters. Will be waiting for a story on Nester and Cindy. Worth the 6.99.

I really like this story. Marley was a determined, patient and incredibly handsome man, who has be trying to get to know his neighbor Kayla for several month.
Kayla has made a vow to stay away from men and she is trying real hard not to fall for Marley even though she's been having erotic dreams about him nightly. Her daughters are forced to be a part of her vow to stay away from men, but see an opportunity to change things. If only they can get their mother to give into her attraction for Marley. With the help of Kayla's best friend Wanda, and the cooperation of Marley the girls are able to get them together. The problem is that Kayla has some real issues from her previous relationship that she has refused to deal with. Kayla begins to loosen the reins on her daughters. Because she has kept them so sheltered and removed from social activities, with kids their own ages, one of her girls is not as prepared to face temptation as she thinks she is. One mistake causes Kayla to rethink her decision to allow her girls more freedom. Kayla decides she needs to focus on being a mother again and decides there is no room in her life for a relationship. I thought Kayla views on motherhood were typical, but I believe she was too closed minded. Being a single parent, she got caught up in the discipline, but failed to really get to know her girls. I believe relating to your children is the key to being a well rounded parent. Kayla taught her kids right from wrong, but she didn't pass on her wisdom. The secondary characters were great they added humor and good advice to the story. Ms. Sudler left the story open for a sequel. It would be real interesting to read Nester's story.

Michelle Sudler provided a great depiction of what happens when a woman is scorned by her man. Kayla and her two daughters, Kamry and Kaitlyn, have relocated due to the split from her husband and their father. Upon moving, they all take a pact to swear off men, well at least Kayla does and she makes her daughters. Kamry and Kaitlyn have other plans for their lonely mother. Sudler supplies the reader with very believable characters and situations. If any woman has been through a bad break up, they can definitely relate to this book. It takes the man three doors down , and the help of the girls, to change this all female family into one that can let a man in. Great read.

I was wanting to like this book, but the more I read the more I knew how things were going to end up and just predictable. Like I absolutely knew that Kaityln was going to have sex with David before I got to that part...but oh well. It is what it is.
