One of my favorites, October 16, 2005

I bought this album not long after it came out (where does the time go?), listened to it once or twice, whereafter it went into the pile and was forgotten. Then, after some years, I got a large capacity (300 disc) CD player, put all my CDs in it (there's still room to spare), and put it on "random." I heard the song "Zagreb" and it grabbed me; after a while I figured out which album it was on, and I listened to the album again, and more times after that.
This actually is one of the minority of albums I have that I will from time to time listen to from start to finish, rather than wait to hear a song at random from it whenever it comes on.
I am quite taken by the structure of it, how it all hangs from the three interludes of the lead singer narrating Jelaluddin Rumi's Tale of the Three Fish. Stylistically, the songs are all over the place; my favorite on the album (it indeed is one of my favorite songs, period) is "Zagreb" -- I like the combination of acoustic guitar with drumming.
But trying to describe music is like trying to describe the taste of pomegranates (one of these days I will try them, and find out). Buy this CD: chances are you will like it, unless you have poor taste.

Not only a listen, but an experience, July 28, 2001

I bought this cd on a guess and guessed right. It quite an amazing cd with its divulge into different musical areas. It has alot of eastern and tribal vibes to it.Robbi Robb has an almost robert plant quality to his voice and the music is quite interesting at the least.Dont compare Jeff Ament's work with Three Fish with his work with pearljam though. This cd is more of a earthly world music. It was well worth the money if you are into different musical styles

I found this album sitting in the £3 rack, and due to the interesting cover, enquired about it. I know the guy who owns the shop so he gave me the cd for free. I generally dont listen to mellow stuff like this, but I was surprised at how good it was. At any rate, if you've heard the Gomez album - 'Bring It On', or Blur - '13', you will have an idea of the style of this album.
