5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorites
I bought this album not long after it came out (where does the time go?), listened to it once or twice, whereafter it went into the pile and was forgotten. Then, after some years, I got a large capacity (300 disc) CD player, put all my CDs in it (there's still room to spare), and put it on "random." I heard the song "Zagreb" and it grabbed me; after a while I figured...

3.0 out of 5 stars If you a Pearl Jam fan, if so, you might want this album.
This album has received amazing reviews and I was all set to buy this album; as I am a huge Pearl Jam fan, I could not wait. However, I was a little disapointed. "Three Fish" is a poem broken up into three parts, all three parts are exceedingly terrible. It tries to be extremely too deep and fully comes across that way. The other songs are decent, about what I would...

I bought this album not long after it came out (where does the time go?), listened to it once or twice, whereafter it went into the pile and was forgotten. Then, after some years, I got a large capacity (300 disc) CD player, put all my CDs in it (there's still room to spare), and put it on "random." I heard the song "Zagreb" and it grabbed me; after a while I figured out which album it was on, and I listened to the album again, and more times after that.

This actually is one of the minority of albums I have that I will from time to time listen to from start to finish, rather than wait to hear a song at random from it whenever it comes on.

I am quite taken by the structure of it, how it all hangs from the three interludes of the lead singer narrating Jelaluddin Rumi's Tale of the Three Fish. Stylistically, the songs are all over the place; my favorite on the album (it indeed is one of my favorite songs, period) is "Zagreb" -- I like the combination of acoustic guitar with drumming.

But trying to describe music is like trying to describe the taste of pomegranates (one of these days I will try them, and find out). Buy this CD: chances are you will like it, unless you have poor taste.

I bought this cd on a guess and guessed right. It quite an amazing cd with its divulge into different musical areas. It has alot of eastern and tribal vibes to it.Robbi Robb has an almost robert plant quality to his voice and the music is quite interesting at the least.Dont compare Jeff Ament's work with Three Fish with his work with pearljam though. This cd is more of a earthly world music. It was well worth the money if you are into different musical styles

4.0 out of 5 stars Definitely worth the money, August 9, 1999

I found this album sitting in the £3 rack, and due to the interesting cover, enquired about it. I know the guy who owns the shop so he gave me the cd for free. I generally dont listen to mellow stuff like this, but I was surprised at how good it was. At any rate, if you've heard the Gomez album - 'Bring It On', or Blur - '13', you will have an idea of the style of this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive, May 17, 2006

A project with Pearl Jam bassist and Tribe After Tribe frontman, the music is like a mystic journey. Very mellow and chilled out post grunge. Well, if you are on this page, chances are, you already know what you're looking for here.
5 Gold Stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars A superb album with broad influences, January 11, 2002

Jeff Ament's fretless bass work is overlooked in Pearl Jam's smooth sound. Here he gets to show off some more with some beautiful songs, complemented well by Stuverud's drumming and over which Robb's scratchy, nasal voice works better than i'd've expected. "Laced" is probably my favorite track. "Build" is a departure from the other tracks, with a stomping racket setting the stage for electronically modified guitar sounds.

For those of you who get into the softer side of Pearl Jam, this CD is a must. Jeff Ament's spin-off band, Three Fish creates some excellent music.

The other songs are decent, about what I would expect out of a Pearl Jam side project. I mean, Pearl Jam is an amazing band and I love every single song they have ever done, but, wow, Pearl Jam side projects are not really earth-shattering. Guitarist Stone Gossard once said that the sum is greater than the individual parts, and he is exactly right. Buy this album only if you have pretty much every other recording by Pearl Jam, Temple of the Dog, Mad Season, Brad, The Rockfords,Gossard's solo, Bayleaf, and the Molo Sessions (buy them in this order as well, each level represents your commitment to the band). Two stars for it being okay, an extra star because it is Jeff Ament.
