Uniquely Talented Jazz Artist,
By Eileen O'Neill (Los Angeles, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Three And Four - Jazz Harp Trio and Quartet (Audio CD)
It's all in the artist's touch and the listeners ear. Carol Robbins maximizes both in "Three-Four", her initial foray into CD-ville. This uniquely talented jazz harpist is revered, and yes, even envied by musicians as having a "very special gift". In "Three-Four", Carol creatively interprets thirteen favorties including "Softly, As In A Morning Sunrise", "I Hear A Rhapsody", and "Young & Foolish". Listeners are also treated to "Qualcosa" (translation - "Something"), an original composition and arrangement by the talented Ms. Robbins. Picking a favorite will give listeners a challenge. "Three-Four" is a MUST for lovers of fine jazz music, everywhere. I rate it *****.Actress Eileen O'Neill

Wonderful discovery,

This review is from: Three And Four Jazz Harp Trio And Quartet (Audio CD)
Chanced on this music at intermission at a jazz club. After obtaining the CD, I find I play it over and over continually. It is quite pleasant and relaxing, yet so engaging. Along with the wonderful harp, the great Bob Shepherd on winds offers his artistry to produce great listening throughout.
Had to give it five stars due to my frequency of playing it.

This review is from: Three And Four - Jazz Harp Trio and Quartet (Audio CD)
This is a nice CD, very well done. It is on the mellow side - which I guess is dictated by the use of a harp. But the players are all good. For me, I probably would not buy another CD by her - it did not move me that much.
