2.0 out of 5 stars not as good as the "Company of Rogues" books
Nowhere near as good as the "Company of Rogues" books. Full of meaningless dialogue and long, boring sections of the character's thoughts. Entire pages should have been edited out as unnecessary.

These guys are terrific. They grew up together in the same area, played together when young and formed lasting friendships. Van Vandeimen,Hawk Hawkinville, and Con Sommerford. They are the three Georges. Because of confussion they changed their names from George and got tatoo's, A Devil, A Hawk and a Dragon. Only one of the Georges,(Con) is a Rogue but through him they are all part of the same group. We also find out what the tatoo's mean and why they have them. They were all hurt and scared by the war where they lost many friends and comrades. The stories are about three men and the three women in their lives and how they help bring their men back from the brink of, hurt, financial disaster, and even death. Interwoven throughout are the Rogues and how they help and how the Georges even come in to save the day. There is wonderful character developement, funny and heartwarming dialogue and at the end we find out what happened to Dare and Maria Theress, Nicholas Delaney's nemesis. You have to Read An Arranged Marriage and an Unwilling Bride before you can truly understand and appreciate the last book of the Heroes called the Devils Heiress and see that it is the culmination of many Rogue intrigues. Yes it is long but it is two entire novels and a novella. You will smile and say thank heaven, but you WILL enjoy it. But read the other books first so that you can understand and appreciate everything that takes place. This book helps to set up what happens in Hazard. Another company of Rogues book. All are Wonderful Reads.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good compilation of Rogue extensions, February 28, 2011

This review is from: Three Heroes (Paperback)
This was a good anthology of the stories surrounding friends of Ms. Beverley's Company of Rogues, and of one of its members. The conceit of having them all have the same first name was clever, and the novella called Devil's Heiress provides important information about other Rogues whose stories are told separately. I enjoyed the pace and characterizations very much.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read!, September 22, 2010

I loved the convenience of three characters stories are in one book. Each story nicely led into the other, with all characters returning involved at the end of this trilogy, for resolving the last hero's problem.
Ms. Beverly's writing and her plots with pertinent sub-plots kept this reader interested all the way through the novella and two novels. One welcomes the "actively involved" return of some of the 'company of rogues' characters from her other novels. Nice touch, makes me want all those other books, too.

I like stories of friendships esp male bonding like jo beverley's "rogues". They prove that strong men can and do have deep feelings and deep friendships. Because of the relationship of these 3 heroes it made sense to republish as an anthology. The problem is, it is a huge book that take forever to read because it is so wordy. The characters are great and have depth. But where I liked "the devils heiress", I hated the "dragons' bride" and demon's mistress was only so-so. Thus the overall rating for the book is low.Definitely not worth the price..........

This is really a 4 1/2 star rating.

I ordered this book because Jo Beverley is an author you can depend on to come up with interesting and well developed stories as well as well fleshed out and believable characters and intelligent dialog. I wish other authors would put as much thought and genuine feeling into their books as Jo Beverley can be counted on to deliver.

The book has only a minor defect, not related to writing, and that is that it's a huge and heavy book bound (by glue, not stiches) inside a soft cover. You have to grip it with both hands (which makes page turning awkward) or read it flat on a table. I kept expecting the pages and cover to separate any minute.

Why didn't I rate it 5? I'm very stingy with my 5's and I reserve them for that rare book that comes once in a blue moon and leaves me completely satisfied. As much as I liked these, there are unanswered questions that I'm going to have to buy the next book to find out and, frankly, that annoys me. (Not that I won't buy the next book, I will, because I know it's going to be worth it.)

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Bonds, January 2, 2006
This review is from: Three Heroes (Paperback)
I just recently begun to read Jo Beverley books. So far so good. In three heros, the quick book combo is alright and interesting. It was a good idea to write the individual stories of each hero.

These three heroes are super. They are friends and each has a story. Good character development, good plots, good romance. I'll definitely be looking for more stories by Jo Beverley.
