4.0 out of 5 stars Three Keys to Self-Understanding, December 7, 2004

This review is from: Three Keys to Self-Understanding: An Innovative and Effective Combination of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Assessment Tool, the Enneagram, and Inner-Child Healing (Paperback)
I found this book to be very easy to follow. The author does a great job of explaning how different types view and handle many situations. The case studies also provide great examples of people dealing with personal conflict, emotions, and obstacles. By using a combination of the MBTI, Enneagram, and Inner-Child healing they are able to overcome some of their inner doubts, unresolved issues, and other emotional conflicts. Pat Wyman is very effective in getting the reader to understand each individual tool and how the combination of these tools can be greatly beneficial in therapy.

This book can be useful not only to therapists, but to someone who has an understanding of these tools and may want to gain some insight into how they are used.

5.0 out of 5 stars By far the best book on the topic that I have read!, September 21, 2009

This review is from: Three Keys to Self-Understanding: An Innovative and Effective Combination of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Assessment Tool, the Enneagram, and Inner-Child Healing (Paperback)
I have been MBTI certified for many years and have helped many since. But it was until I read this wonderful book and then had the opportunity to discuss issues with Pat that I finally found my true type. I have over 60 different resources (books, manuals, and short guides), and it was not until I saw the brilliant comparison of the MBTI with the Enneagram that I finally came to terms with myself. There were a couple of MBTI types that sort of described me, but it was so frustrating to not be sure. When I read the diagram describing INFJ with Enneagram 5, suddenly everything made sense. What a wonderful, enlightening, relieving experience! I am extremely grateful to Pat Wyman for her wonderful book Three Keys to Self-Understanding: An Innovative and Effective Combination of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Assessment Tool, the Enneagram, and Inner-Child Healing. Not only did it answer my questions regarding the MBTI, but it also brought insight into another complementary part of personality, plus the great section for the healing process. If you are looking for answers, look no more. This is a must have book. In retrospective, out of the 60+ references in my library, I could do with this masterpiece book and David Keirsey's Please Understand Me II (Temperament theory), that's it! I am now looking forward to join Pat in one of her seminars.

This review is from: Three Keys to Self-Understanding: An Innovative and Effective Combination of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Assessment Tool, the Enneagram, and Inner-Child Healing (Paperback)
Pat Wyman has provided an excellent workbook for anyone seeking a better understanding of themselves. Combining the strengths of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, the Ennegram and Inner Child work is pure genius. This book is easy to read and apply with or without a trained professional. I benefited from each chapter and especially from the hands-on techniques for healing the child within.

5.0 out of 5 stars Three Keys, August 20, 2009
This review is from: Three Keys to Self-Understanding: An Innovative and Effective Combination of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Assessment Tool, the Enneagram, and Inner-Child Healing (Paperback)
This is a life changing book that I think answers so many questions people look for in one self-help book after another. This book is far more than a self-help book! It is easy to read and understand, yet contains so much information. The insights in this book seem to come in layers....each time you pick it up you gain more and more understanding of yourself and the people in your life. I found myself nodding as I read each page. This is one book I read to the very end. And plan to read again.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Three Keys to Self-Understanding: An Innovative and Effective Combination of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Assessment Tool, the Enneagram, and Inner-Child Healing (Paperback)
I have never reviewed a book before on Amazon. I haven't reviewed anything, did not even know how to do it.

All I can say is, buy this book, it combines MTBI + Enneagram defense, it will most likely describe you with

frightening accuracy, as it did with me.

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful Discovery, September 16, 2009
This review is from: Three Keys to Self-Understanding: An Innovative and Effective Combination of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Assessment Tool, the Enneagram, and Inner-Child Healing (Paperback)
After many years of being qualified in the Myers Briggs Type Indicator and using it in my consulting/coaching practice, I was introduced to the Enneagram by a professional colleague. Wanting to learn more, I attended some panel sessions where individuals shared their personal experiences of their Enneagram type which lead to seeking out more information and discovering Pat Wyman's fabulous book - Three Keys to Self Understanding. This book and further learning through Pat's professional workshops has been the most delightful discovery of my career and my life. The combination of the MBTI, Enneagram and Inner-Child Healing along with the many real life examples in the book made it a truly invaluable resource for me for personal growth as well as enhancing my abilities to help my clients. I have shared this book with many friends and family members, and without exception all are on a path to personal discovery and growth. As a family, this book has brought a much deeper appreciation of each other, our differences, and the many influences in our lives. If you are truly interested in better understanding yourself, in healing old wounds, in personal growth and development, and in living the rest of your life in happiness as your true self, this is the book to buy. 5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, Innovative Concepts!, August 27, 2009
This review is from: Three Keys to Self-Understanding: An Innovative and Effective Combination of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Assessment Tool, the Enneagram, and Inner-Child Healing (Paperback)
This is the best book that I have ever read that provides insights into why people react in certain ways to things that happen in their lives. Pat Wyman, the author, has created a succinct, easily readable book filled with a ground-breaking concept of how the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, the Enneagram, and inner Child Healing work together to make us who we are. I have found this book presents very understandable information about how and why people in my family, at work, and my friends react to situations that arise. The many stories that Pat Wyman provides from the lives of her clients explain in such an understandable manner just how the three keys can help you to better understand yourself and others. Especially fascinating was the explanations of the MBTI-Enneagram qualities correlations which can present either all-out conflict or harmony in a person. The Tricks of the Trade chapter provides many suggestions to help access old programming and replace the old, limited, knee-jerk responses with more effective coping skills.

This book is a constant reference and tool to better understand not only myself but all the others in my life.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best I Have Ever Read..., August 26, 2009
This review is from: Three Keys to Self-Understanding: An Innovative and Effective Combination of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Assessment Tool, the Enneagram, and Inner-Child Healing (Paperback)
Pat Wyman has a unique, groundbreaking approach with her examination of the human condition. This book is written in a very informal, down-to-earth style, but still offers much information and insight, including helpful examples from people with whom she has worked; the illustrations provided greatly demonstrate the principles that she is trying to communicate. Helpful exercises are also included throughout the book so that a reader can utilize the concepts and tools that she provides. (It's not all intellectual, though--it does require some FEELINGS).

This is the best book that I have ever read in regard to offering actual explanations and solutions for life-long issues. Pat Wyman has deep insight but also an uncanny ability to communicate her paradigm to others.

As a practicing psychotherapist, I have found this book not only to be beneficial to anyone interested in personal growth, but also beneficial to the professional working in the field of therapy. 5.0 out of 5 stars This Book Explains So Much!, August 20, 2009
By
Rick Foster (Berkeley, California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Three Keys to Self-Understanding: An Innovative and Effective Combination of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Assessment Tool, the Enneagram, and Inner-Child Healing (Paperback)
As a long term certified user of Myers Briggs (worldwide, and in many organizational settings), I know its brilliance and its limitations. Pat Wyman's extraordinary research - and her system for integrating the MBTI, the Enneagram, and Inner Child work - both fills in the blanks and answers questions about the limitations of any single "typing" model. If you know the MBTI, you'll understand that, for example, five ENFP's may seem similar but have individual characteristics that make them quite different, too. By using Pat's system, we can clearly understand at a profound level the differences between an ENFP/Enneagram 2, ENFP/Enneagram 7, ENFP/Enneagram 8, and ENFP/Enneagram 3. This is amazing work that has informed my professional life and, most important, given me new insights into myself.
