5.0 out of 5 stars Adorable depiction of this classic rhyme., January 15, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Three Little Kittens (Paperback)
My 2 1/2 year old loves this book! We have taken it out of the library so many times, I have finally decided it is time to own it! I think she identifies with the sweet kittens who get into trouble but then make amends and get to eat the pie after all. Both toddlers and preschoolers will love this beautifully illustrated book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very appealing and well done little book, January 18, 2000
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My sons have requested this be read to them about 10 times just today! As all of Galdone's fairy tales or nursery rhymes, this is very true to the traditional telling. The special part here is the living, clever and detailed pictures. They show such neat details as a kitchen with catnip in every form---chopped, minced, blended, etc---in a spice cabinet! The cats' expressions are priceless---you wouldn't guess cats could be so expressive.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Classic, June 12, 2005
This review is from: Three Little Kittens (Paperback)
This is a wonderful version of the classic story of the "Three Little Kittens". The artwork in this book is very colorful and detailed and exactly right for young children. My son (just turned 3) loves this book and must request it (we just got it) 6 times a day. The only other thing that he shows this much enthusiasm for is Thomas the Tank Engine.

His older sister (5) and I like it too, principally because of the funny details in the background and because of the amusing expressions on mama cat's face.

Some of Paul Galdone's best work.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Classic Standby for Toddlers, November 21, 2011
This review is from: Three Little Kittens (Hardcover)
Paul Galdone's straightforward, old-fashioned interpretation of many classic fairy tales made a prolific career for him before modern printing technology transformed the world of picture books. In this faithful rendition of the classic nursery rhyme, the three little kittens play out their mitten drama, alternately scolded and praised by their mother, while a cheerful rat plays hide-and-seek in the background. Galdone's cheery images and the classic repetitive text make this a great standby for toddlers and early readers, who will appreciate the predictable text.

There is something about this classic nursery rhyme that still attracts me after all these years. My 3-year-old son, just introduced to it, feels the same way. We borrowed it from the library, and renewed it, and renewed it, and he still requests it months later. I love these illustrations. They are charming. They make me feel good. By the way, my son especially likes this book when the kittens have a high, squeaky voice. ;) He became very excited about the topic of kittens in general after we got this from the library. It's a keeper.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this Book - Pictures are great!, September 26, 2009

This review is from: Three Little Kittens (Paperback)
My 2 1/2 year old granddaughter is just learning nursery rhymes, and especially loves kittens. This book quickly became a favorite after I took it to her last winter. I made outlines of mittens on the copier for her to color, (scribble) and cut out, (I did the cutting). We strung them together with yarn and she wore them around her neck for the afternoon. Then after showing them to her parents, she wanted to hang them on the Christmas tree. When her older brothers came home from pre-school and 1st grade, they wanted to hear the story, and make mittens too. Her mom says she often sees her "reading" the book...turning the pages and reciting the story in her own words. That sure warms Grammy's heart! The pictures in the book are cute/lovely and detailed. I now have 3 more copies for other grandchildren.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Good Book for Kids and Adults (Kid's review), September 9, 2009
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Three Little Kittens (Paperback)
I like Three Little Kittens because it's cute. The pictures are beautiful. The kittens and the mittens are beautiful. It's fun and easy to read it. The words are a nice size to read them. I think kids would like it from ages 1 to 7. I am 7. I also read The Three Billy Goats Gruff by Paul Galdone and they are both good books, but my best one from those two stories in Three Little Kittens.
