This version of the three little pigs has the STUPIDEST placement of illustrations -- there's no picture of the straw house, five pages worth of pictures of a part of the story I have never even heard of before, no picture of the two pigs running to their brother's house, no picture of the wolf blowing down the straw house, NO picture of huffing or puffing at all. My three year old keeps asking me what the straw house looks like, or what a kettle of boiling water is. The illustrations themselves are attractive enough -- the selections of which scenes to illustrate is downright moronic and frustrates me every time I attempt to read it again.

This book does not contain very important pictures such as the straw house, the wolf puffing...etc I reccomend it to collectors, because is a very interesting book, but if you are a teacher, and you need it for working, this is not the correct book...

This is the latest addition to the "Little Golden Book" collection that I have purchased for my twin grandchildren. They totally loved the story. We have almost read the print off the pages and still they continue to ask me to read it again. They cheer for the little pig in the brick house and enjoy singing the "Big Bad Wolf" song. They look on the back cover of the book and "remind" me which "Golden Books" we are missing and need to add to our library.
These are the same stories that I read to my children that helped encourage their love of reading. I am very happy that "Little Goldne Books" have continued to be publiched through the years.

I downloaded the Three Little Pigs movie from iTunes onto my computer. It's the original Disney from the 30s! My granddaughter loves it. This book matches the movie perfectly! Now we watch the movie for motivation and then we read the book. Great match.

These books were very cheaply made. The paper was cut longer than the cover and it just looks cheap. The price was cheap though so I guess you get what you pay for.

Both my children love the story of the three little pigs. It is a classic that most people have heard of. Up until now I was telling the story from my memory but then, based on the good reviews I decided to buy this book.
For the $2.50 price, it is a pretty decent book and I can say that the story is way longer than I remembered it to be from my childhood. However, I agree with the complaints of other reviewers about the illustrations not being really attractive for the child. It would be great to see an illustration of wolf pushing the walls and bringing them down but rather than that you see miniature images of various gestures of wolf and the pigs, which does not help at all.
Another complaint is about the binding of the book. The hard cover is a plus for this price but it looks like an elementary school student's project. Papers are stapled together and covered with hard cardboard is all you get. It is definitely not ergonomic and it is difficult to keep the book open without inserting a finger between pages which is an adult's job and my 3 years old son really struggles changing the pages or keeping the book open without collapsing on itself.
If you are after a book that you are planing to read loud to your child, then considering the comprehensive story with some rhymes, this book may be a good option. However, if you want your toddler or preschooler to play around the pages and enjoy looking at the images while you are telling the story, then considering the inadequate pictures and non-ergonomic design, you may want to consider another version...
