5.0 out of 5 stars Your Typical Three 6 Mafia Album
The Three 6 Mafia are back with their new movie and soundtrack "Choices II: The Set Up", which is the sequel to their first movie and soundtrack "Choices". What I like most about Triple Six Mafia is that they keep it VERY gangsta. Every track is all about either being a Pimp, or beating the holy $hit outta someone who thinks they're hard, or smoking on that dro. The...

5.0 out of 5 stars Your Typical Three 6 Mafia Album, June 24, 2005
By
This review is from: Three 6 Mafia: Choices II - The Setup (DVD)
The Three 6 Mafia are back with their new movie and soundtrack "Choices II: The Set Up", which is the sequel to their first movie and soundtrack "Choices". What I like most about Triple Six Mafia is that they keep it VERY gangsta. Every track is all about either being a Pimp, or beating the holy $hit outta someone who thinks they're hard, or smoking on that dro. The production is solid by DJ Paul and Juicy J as always. They bring you those southern crunk filled beats that make you wanna jump up and punch somebody right upside their head. I have to admit that the lyrics from the remaining Triple Six members have disintigrated over the years, but they still bring that fire and flow with such intensity that it keeps you listening. This is not an album for Hip Hop fans who want to hear intelligent rap or conscious MCing, for the Three 6 are all about showing you how real and hard they really are. This is a great CD to bump up in your new ride you got.

Some of the best songs are "Who The F*ck You Playin Wit", "Yeah I Rob", the first single "Who I Is", "Shoot Up Da Club", "It's Whateva Wit Us", and "One Hitta Quitta". The only joint on the album that I'm not really feeling is "P.I.M.P." To be honest, there are just too many songs called PIMP out there. The joint itself is very mediocre anyway. Kinda boring in it's own right. Triple Six Mafia fans and southern fans alike should not be disappointed by the album. The movie, "Choices II The Set Up", is an okay film too. It's not a ghetto masterpiece or a suspenseful hood drama, but it is a movie worth having in your collection. It's about 2 hustlers in Memphis, which are DJ Paul and Juicy J, who land in prison after a planned heist went wrong. They are offered freedom by 2 crooked DEA agents, but only if they do a job for them. They can choose to stay behind bars or get caught up in the system. Which one will the Memphis boys choose? The acting is decent by all actors, and the plot is average as well.

So I'd say buy the album, especially because you get the CD and the DVD in one package. Both discs are good, so it's worth the price you pay. Well, actually, this should only be a few dollars above normal CD prices at your local store anyway. There's something else I wanna say: F*CK LIL JON. That dude ain't the king of crunk, and the Eastside Boys ain't the kings of crunk. That title does, and always will, belong to the Three 6. Them Memphis boys have had s**t on lock since 95' and they're still going strong a decade later. They've been holding it down for Memphis and TN so F*CK Lil Jon. Buy the CD/DVD already. Whatchu waiting on?

3.0 out of 5 stars What Happened?!!!!!!, November 11, 2005
By
This review is from: Three 6 Mafia: Choices II - The Setup (DVD)
Sorry triple 6, but Choices 1 was a whole lot better than this.
First thing, what happened with the beats?, choices 1 had that
dark, murder, heavy bass hits like y'all usually do which made it
unstoppable to listen to. But Choices 2: The Set Up soundtrack
was WAY different but I still listen to it though. But Not as much
I listen to choices 1. What's going on?, I hope that this was
not Sony Music's decision.

4.0 out of 5 stars 2 Choices (buy this album or steal it), June 25, 2005

Dooky Breath "West" (Virginia Beach, VA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Three 6 Mafia: Choices II - The Setup (DVD)
{Off top} "Yeah I rob", worst song. Best song is "It's Whatever with us"(peep the drum pattern on that song). For you reviewers trying to figure out if you should by this album, yeah do that or steal it. Whatever is clever. Typical 3-6 mafia. Rob, steal, kill or put your body in a field. You know how they get down. What I dont understand is why their posse song gets worst on each album? The 1st choices album is better but this movie is better than the 1st.

5.0 out of 5 stars HypnotizeCamp.net, April 25, 2005
This review is from: Three 6 Mafia: Choices II - The Setup (DVD)
To the previous reviewer who said that this was every member of HCP minus Project Pat, you are wrong. There's a few newer members lately who did not make an appearance on the soundtrack.
Rumored: Grandaddy Souf (Was in the movie), Chrome, Boogie Mane, and two other rappers whose names I forgot.
There will be a Choices 3, entitled "Big Pat's Return" once Project Pat is released from jail. Also, two more movies coming up from DJ Paul and Juicy J, along with a possible X-Rated video.
This movie, overall, is a lot better than the first movie. The story is really interesting, and the only major flaw would be the acting by some of the people in the movie.
The soundtrack, many people underrate because Three 6 Mafia is changing their style a little more, therefore they say it sucks. The production on this album is the best that it's ever been in recent years, and this album is better than anything they've released since When The Smoke Clears: 6661. 4.0 out of 5 stars Not the best, April 20, 2005
This review is from: Three 6 Mafia: Choices II - The Setup (DVD)
This album was not as good as i thought i was going to be. The production is good overall but some tracks lack that triple 6 sound. The first reviewer dont know what hes talkin about cause who i iz blows. The best song on the cd is without a doubt pass dat s*** not only because of the lyrics and flow but it has the best beat by far. If u know that drinkin and smokin sound then you'll agree. The cd doesnt bang as hard as choices one or the end but still has alot of bass to put the bump in your trunk. yea i rob and number 19 are really good songs too. Let me squeeze it and one hitter quitter would also be hits but those songs have been out for a while on the internet so theyre aleady played out. Overall the cd is not what i expected but still very good. Pass that s*** is raw as hell. 4 stars

4.0 out of 5 stars Given the CHOICE, I'd buy this record., April 20, 2005
This review is from: Three 6 Mafia: Choices II - The Setup (DVD)
Three 6 Mafia have done it again. Choices 2 is a great album. It's as solid as the other recent HCP releases, such as Lil Wyte's 'Phinally Phamous,' which is superb. This album has 14 new tracks, and 6 remixes/old songs. Although it is not their best (that title belongs to Chapter 2: World Domination), Juicy J and DJ Paul show not only the south, but the whole US that they are indeed top notch rappers. The best songs on here are 'Who I Is'(feat. Trillville and Lil Wyte) and 'Who the F*** You Playin Wit'? The skits are also funny, which is surprising for a rap album. Although some of the songs use the same beat as they've used before, the songs still remain good, which proves how good these gangstas are. The bonus songs are good, not superb, but solid. It's a good thing to listen to while blazin' that 4/20. The Bottom Line: If you want to listen to the best rap group around that's still going strong, pick up Choices II, and listen to the album and watch the decent DVD while you're at it. After all, it's better then anything DMX has put out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good Movie, July 23, 2005
By
This review is from: Three 6 Mafia: Choices II - The Setup (DVD)
Three 6 Once again drops a crunk album. Though not they're best, it's pretty good. The best tracks are It's Whateva Wit Us, Gettin' Real Buck, and Who Da F*** U Playin' Wit. The soundtrack is by far not Triple Six's best album. If you want the good stuff check out Mystic Stylez, The End, Chapter 2: World Domination, and Prophet Posse: Body Parts. You should pick this album up for the DVD movie. The movie is pretty good, better than I thought it would be. It is funny at times, too. So go ahead & pick this up.
