Book Description

Georgia Mae Brown has always lived an ordinary life. That is, until her husband dies in the arms of a younger woman. Six weeks after his death, Georgia slides behind the wheel of her husband’s beloved 1976 Fleetwood convertible, starts the engine and just keeps driving. Empowered by a volatile mix of freedom and retribution, Georgia begins a journey of a lifetime.

Traveling two thousand-miles to Sedona, Arizona, Georgia finds work in a café managed by the kooky proprietor, Trish Martin. Next door, the Moon Tide Gift Shop is owned by the exotic Zoe Atwater, the daughter of screen legend, Gloria Atwater. Befriended by these two flamboyant characters, Georgia finds new life in Sedona, an artisan town surrounded by the magnificent red rock scenery of Oak Creek Canyon. This energizing landscape of mysterious vortexes and new-age spiritualism revitalizes her soul. However, her two new friends have their own agendas, generating a major crisis that takes the three women to LA and a media Hollywood funeral. Georgia is suddenly thrust into the surreal world of A-list movie stars, glamorous Rodeo Drive, and tabloid hell.

Three Moons Over Sedona is an odyssey of the human heart, filled with secrets, regrets and finally forgiveness. Georgia is a survivor who learns that although you can never run away from yourself, you can—through pure determination—become the person you were always meant to be.

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved Three Moons Over Sedona November 12, 2011
Format:Paperback
I am not going to write a long review since I am not a great writer like Sherry. Suffice it to say that this book, which is about a strong woman and the friends she meets along the way, is wonderful! I am so happy a friend of mine at the gym lent it to me. If you are a woman looking for adventure a little later in life you will love it! Actually any woman would love this story...READ ITThree Moons Over Sedona! If you like the book e-mail Sherry, I e-mailed her to tell her how much I loved it and she replied back to me right away.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Sherry Hartzler's Books September 8, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Georgia Mae Brown was always a rule-follower --- do what you are supposed to do and good things will come your way. And throughout her life that rule has served her well.

Until the evening her life bursts into flames watching the evening news. There on the screen is her husband Ed, dead of a heart attack, in the arms of a young blond.

What on earth? Their children are grown. Ed's hardware business is going great guns. What has happened to their lives?

Numb, she gives Ed a proper funeral and burial. However, she knows her world will never be the same. She will never be the same!

The day she gets into Ed's beloved Fleetwood, the fancy car she has never been allowed to drive, and hits the street flying --- everything changes. She starts by mowing down every last flower lining her driveway.

Then, instead of pulling into the grocery store to get the bread she needs, she sails onto the interstate in the big car. As she rolls down the long highway West she begins to feel her stress lessen as she unravels the life she and Ed started so long ago. She has to admit it wasn't all that perfect!

The trip is full of adventures through endearing and offbeat characters Georgia meets. Finally, when she sees the red rocks of Sedona, she slows down and feels something inside her shift.

In this beautiful Arizona artist town Georgia finds big time adventure with her new age friends who are a salve to her wounds.

Her travels include a trip to Hollywood in the Fleetwood with her two new best friends for the funeral of an old time film star. She experiences an unforgettable shopping trip to Rodeo Drive and nobody can do Rodeo Drive quite like Georgia Mae Brown and her friends.

2.0 out of 5 stars 2.5 out of 5 stars.... May 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
What I see in the Stars:
1 = Groaner. Probably didn't even finish it.
2 = Yawner. Poorly written or weak story.
3 = Recliner. Enjoyed the read.
4 = Page Turner. Hard to put down.
5 = Keeper. A story that stays with me.

This is a pleasant read - especially if you've ever lost a spouse to death or divorce and wondered "where do I go from here?'.

Our main character strikes out for the grocery store one day with that very question on her mind and ends up on a spontaneous adventure
that changes the course of her life. She meets some quirky characters along the way, redefines her relationship with her children and gains
a better sense of who she is and what she really wants her life to look like.

The reason I had to go with 2.5 stars is because there were a lot of distracting editing errors, both grammar-wise and with story flow.

In several spots I had those "huh, what?" moments where I had to go back and look for the situation that set up the current scene and could
not find it because it wasn't there.

Overall, a pleasant read - this author has some good instincts - the story just needs a little more cohesiveness.

this is a good beach read, and even fun if it's raining. I enjoyed readling about the challenges met by the main character and the sense of community developed in the story-line.

A SWEET LITTLE BOOK. GEORGIA'S HUSBAND HAS RECENTLY DIED. HE WAS ON THE FAMILY BOAT WITH ANOTHER WOMAN AT THE TIME. SHE GETS INTO HIS BELOVED CAR ONE DAY & GOES FOR A DRIVE...A LONG DRIVE. SHE DOESN'T STOP UNTIL SHE REACHES SEDONA, AZ.

IN SEDONA GEORGIA STARTS A NEW LIFE FOR HERSELF...NEW FRIENDS, NEW JOBS, A NEW PLACE TO LIVE....SHE BEGINS TO PUT THE PAIN OF HER PAST BEHIND HER & LEARNS TO FIND HERSELF & REALIZE THAT THE FUTURE HOLDS MUCH PROMISE.

A LIGHT READ WITH LIKEABLE CHARACTERS AND A HAPPY ENDING FOR THEM ALL.

3.0 out of 5 stars Three Moons Over Sedona September 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I enjoyed the book at first but it began to get a little silly toward the end. It was an easy read, the story was interesting at the beginning but like I said, toward the end it became a little too predictable. The idea of getting in the car and just going was interesting and an adventure. Once in Sedona the main character had some very good experiences and met some great people but toward the end it just left me disappointed. It reminded me of a book by Margaret Atwood in that it really carries you along and then peters out at the end.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Power of Friendship.... March 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
A middle-aged woman's husband dies in embarrassing circumstances, and she is left to question her life. One day she gets in the car and just drives, all the way to a new town called Sedona, where she starts over with the help of two younger, very different women she learns to call friends. All three women are holding too tight to past hurts to move towards the love in their future. This book is the story of the three get to know each other and themselves and let go of the hurts together. The author creates very realistic, flawed characters and relationships, and the resolutions for the most part avoid cliched solutions. A very pleasant, companionable read with a heartwarming finish.

More About the Author

Sherry Hartzler is a novelist, gifted in the art of mainstream women's fiction. Granddaughter of another storyteller. Sherry, as a child, was always captivated by her grandmother's recollections of immigrant families in the early 1900's who struggled to make a living in the coal-mining region of Republic, Pennsylvania. Memories of her grandmother's stories, coupled with the life lessons she learned from the many strong women in her life, led Sherry on her own path of storytelling.
