5.0 out of 5 stars A distilled lesson from a Tibetan Master, October 3, 2010
This book is based on an oral teaching Geshe Rinchen gave on "The Three Principal Aspects Of The Path", originally, by Je Tsongkhapa. "The Three Principal Aspects Of The Path" has had many commentaries written about it, and I have not read many of them so I can't give a great comparison as to which one is the best, but I can say that Geshe Rinchen's commentary is extensive and concise.

Je Tsongkhapa, to some, could be considered the second Buddha as his work was extensive, not only in writing. From rebuilding monasteries to building new one's his dedication to reconstructing the Dharma at a time when things were "weakening" was immense. He is known as the founder of the Gelug branch of Tibetan Buddhism, although he mainly trained in the early Kadam lineage. His works are some of the most important commentaries on Dharma practice in the Tibetan Buddhist realm. Believed to be an emanation of Manjushri, his wisdom is monumental.

This volume is very understandable and is a great discourse for beginner and advanced practitioners alike. For me, alot of books like this are very "scholarly" and full of jargon that not only makes it hard to understand, but make the books boring. Honestly, if I'm bored with a book I cannot begin to comprehend what is going on and learn nothing from it.

That was not the case here at all, Geshe Rinchen has done a fantastic job and has given us a true gem of a book to learn from. I am grateful to have been able to read and study this sensational discourse on one of the most important teachings in Tibetan Buddhism. Highly recommended!
