This sad, poorly written ramblings, of a white trash red neck pseudo intellectual, self inflated polygamist.
This creature was the lead character in a reality show about the sordid life of his poor sad wives and children.
It creeps me out to think that I actually put money in his disgusting pockets.
His life has fallen apart, all the kids have left him, his two other wives hit the road after coming to their senses.
Please don't buy this book, thus rewarding this creepy lizard of a human being.
His kids have myspace accounts discussing how they hate him, and are afraid to be alone with him.
Google his name before you reward him for mentally abusing his wives and children by buying this trash.
yeeech, I need a shower after thinking about this freak.

The author has not proven his claimed education and degrees. His "holistic" website was bashed on an Internet blog because of dubious content, and now it merely has pictures of his smiling face and a farmhouse.

This individual is merely exploiting his lifestyle and wives for a meal ticket. And, on a side note, I honestly hope you're not keeping a Shepherds puppy mill for profit too!

I borrowed this book from a friend because I was interested in the complex relationships at play in polygamy. Unfortunately, the book was a long, laundry list of bad experiences that the author had been through. One would hope that having been through such horrible experiences and manipulation by love, that the author would choose not to perpetuate the cycle of abuse. As evidenced by the book and the television special, the author didn't learn much. I'm glad I didn't buy the book.

Disillusionment to the extreme, Credibility dubious. This selfish martyrdom-complexed person amazingly has pulled in three women into his world, an egomaniacal spiraling out of control place, I feel sorry for the kids. Not to mention, a total control trip for him because his life is out of it, and adulterously sinful per the apostle Paul and Jesus.

This book is a long litany of terrible things that can happen to a child, it is hard to believe that it all happened in real life and not in an author's imagination. Further than that there is no advice on how to live, no advice on how to make a marriage (with any amount of wives) successful. This book seems all about shock value .If you want to get down in the pit and waller with the author....go ahead. I would prefer to spend my money on something more uplifting.

In the beginning of this book, the author states that everything written in this book is true. You see, Mr. Murray-Wachtendorf, there are many people out here that know who you really are. In my opinion, this book offers nothing of any value to society. You did not tell the truth about many things in this book. You may feel some uncontrolable urge to try and make others believe that you have an insight on how marriages and families should operate, I think public record will speak for itself. I have shared this book with several people who knew you years ago and with people who do not know you--the reaction is the same, they do not believe you, disturbed by your statements, and wonder how you could teach in the public school system (they have read the articles on the Stafford M.S.D., Texas incident where you were teaching and chose to bring a loaded .45 calibur semi-automatic weapon to the campus where it was stolen by a student and you resigned your position even though you claimed that you did nothing wrong--stories can be read by simply typing in the author's name via internet searches). This book is "wordy." It insults my intelligence. This book will serve a definite purpose soon, if nothing but paper to start the fireplace roaring (that is your one star).

Never read the book, why would i? The guy is a conman.
But watched the documentary on TLC, and he was legally married to just his first wives since more than one is illegal in TX. The second one left him, the third one he was "engaged" to also left him and the legal wife divorced him and all of his children have left him and hate him. So please dont contribute to this scum bag.

Dynamic family life? LOL, his family wised up and left his butt.

This "man" (only in the biological sense) is deeply disturbed, but mostly just filled with too much pride to do what really is right. Buy the book if you want to see the perspective of an arrogant, selfish, controlling, coward. These are of course the external attributes to cover up for his extreme insecurity and deeply misguided assumptions about marriage and life.

I read the first few pages after seeing the TLC special and tossed it aside. The man is a misogynistic deviant who has schnookered one too many woman already in his lifetime. If you're looking for some sort of guidance for you own life you'd be better off heeding the words of Jack Handy.

I agree with the previous reviews in that it is a chronical
of life born into hellish dysfunction and the long hard
road "up and out".
The multiple partner, or polygamy, aspect of their life is
really a very small side note in the overall theme of the book.

If you are looking for a book about overcoming hardship and
finding God, then get this book.

If you are looking for insights into building a working multi-
partner marriage, then I'd look to "Love Without Limits" or
some other poly relationship books.
