A different TV show, February 12, 2010
This review is from: Three Rivers [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
Three Rivers is ground-breaking TV. It's a medical drama so different from others, it really offers viewers a type of choice that most commercial TV does not. Three Rivers is real medicine and doctors who are, I hope, more real doctors than the average TV doctor today: people who really care and work hard to save their patients' lives, even if they are not acknowledged as deserving organ recipients by the system. Three Rivers instructs the viewer about the reality of the incredible advances in transplant medicine and does away with myths that stop people from helping others thorough organ donation.
I see a couple of problems in Three Rivers, though: It is too ambitious in its story-telling, with a multitude of themes, sometimes too many; and it does not develop its characters fast and deep enough. Nevertheless, Its cast is outstanding and represent their characters in quite compelling ways, Alex O'loughlin at the center of it with another of his wonderful performances which was just starting to show the depth it could reach. It is a pity CBS pulled the series out too early to let us see the end of the best stories it had begun to tell and the complete picture of the complex characters we were just starting to know. I really hope that the episodes we have not seen will let us see a bit of that, and can not wait to see them on disc. I join the line of TR lovers waiting impatiently for it.
