Book Description

Enter the Regency world of the Writing Girls series in Maya Rodale's charming tale of a scheming lady, a handsome second son, and the trouble they get into when the perfect scandal becomes an even more perfect match.

Scheme: A folly, a swan, a little lie . . . a compromising position

Lady Charlotte Brandon is always up to something . . . but somehow her best schemes for matchmaking often end in disaster.

Scheme: A family feud, outrageously false rumors, a shattered priceless vase . . . an even more compromising position

It's no wonder she's considered by at least one devastatingly handsome man to be devious, destructive, and dangerously appealing.

Scheme: A fox, a rabbit, a childhood foe, and a dashing rogue . . . the proposal to end all proposals

It's high time someone turned the tables on the lovely Lady Charlotte, and James Beauchamp is just the man to do it. Even if it means beating Charlotte at her devious game with a scandalous scheme of his own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute and Charming Read October 10, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
There aren't enough words to describe just how much I loved this novella. Quite simply I adored it and it only solidified my love of Maya Rodale's work all that much more. Three Schemes was such a cute and charming read filled with humor and romance. My only complaint is that I wish it was longer. I loved Charlotte's antics and simply adored the relationship between her and James. I just wanted more but in a good way. I would have loved to have seen them the stars of a full length novel because Charlotte is hilarious.

As children Charlotte and James were the best of friends but after an incident involving Charlotte's beloved pet rabbit they had a falling out and have not spoken since.

Charlotte is a troublemaker and schemer and is somehow always up to mischief, though her intentions are noble. She considers herself a matchmaker but somehow her matchmaking schemes always go awry.

James has always known that Charlotte is up to no good. She's always up to something and his plans are to stay as far away from her schemes as possible. This backfires on him when Charlotte gets him and herself locked in a Folly during a garden party. Charlotte's goal was to get James and her friend Lucy locked in the Folly, not herself. Now they both must work together and quickly before they are found in a compromising situation and forced to wed.

The hijinks these two go through throughout the novella are laugh out loud funny. Charlotte has the best of intentions but somehow something in her plans always go wrong and because of this Charlotte and James are constantly being thrown together in compromising situations. Soon both are realizing just how attracted to one another they really are.

I loved, loved, loved these two together.

Though she's made a promise not to concoct any more schemes, Lady Charlotte Brandon simply can't help herself. She has a friend in need of matchmaking and she knows just the gentleman who'd be the perfect husband: her childhood companion, James Beauchamp. Only Charlotte's schemes have a way of going wrong, which is how she finds herself locked in a folly with James. Charlotte certainly doesn't want to marry James herself, no matter the scandal that would occur if they were found together. She still hasn't quite forgiven him for the disaster that ended their friendship when she was twelve.

It may have been years since James last spoke to Charlotte, but that doesn't mean he can't still spot one of her schemes a mile away. But the spirited girl he once knew with a taste for madcap adventures has turned into, well, a beautiful, spirited woman with a taste for madcap adventures. And though James hadn't planned on being drawn into one of Charlotte's schemes, he soon realizes that he doesn't want to be without Charlotte, outrageous ideas and all.

With a lot of planning -- and perhaps a touch of luck -- James will turn the tables on Charlotte, causing a scandal that could win the heart of his beloved schemer.

Like a glass of champagne, Three Schemes and a Scandal is bright, bubbly, and wholly delicious. Charlotte and James's romance is my absolute favorite story of Maya Rodale's to date! Charlotte is intelligent, clever, funny, and kindhearted. I almost wish she were real, just so I could have her as a friend. She causes quite a bit of trouble, true, but she always has the best of intentions. James is truly her perfect match. He's smart enough to keep up with Charlotte and he values her vivacious spirit and sense of adventure.

This was a great love story for Charlotte, who was featured in Rodale's Writing Girls series. Charlotte 's scheming got her into trouble (again) and finally lead to her to her true love. The novella was a perfect ending to the series.

Even though this was a shot book, it had everything in it. The characters we well developed and I didn't feel like the story was rushed. Well worth reading.

This is another novel that Maya Rodale in her Writing Girls series. This novel is not as great as the two other novel that I read which are "A Groom of One's Own" and "A Tale of Two Lovers". In "A Groom Of One's Own", the story was about Sophie Harlow and Duke of Hamilton & Brandon involving their romance. In "A Tale of Two Lovers", the story involve Sophie's friend Lady Julianna Somerset and Lord Simon Roxbury.
In this book, "Three Schemes and a Scandal", the novel is written involving Duke of Hamilton and Brandon's sister Lady Charlotte Brandon and her schemes of matchmaking. She is told by her brother to stop these schemes or be abandon to the country. The male character and love interest in this novel is James Beauchamp who knows Lady Charlotte and past schemes. He wants to teach a lesson. The story is charming in its own rights. Maya does a good job again, but her two other books interest me more and held me more captivate. If you are interested in more stories involving another character from the famous female writer series, I suggest this book. For me, I just want to finish reading all the books in the London Weekly 's Famous Female Writer series of Maya Rodale which is why I buy this book.
