Not so big on doing reviews. This CD, however, knocked my socks off on so many levels, in no particular order:
- Incredible range and fluency on the piano. He effortlessly glides up and down and around on the piano, with exquisite dynamics, intricately detailed execution and lush transitions. A master - at 24!!
- Recording quality is excellent, with much detail coming through and dynamics not flattened out. This is a very expansive recording
- Music selection is a treat as he shifts genres and pays tribute to so many influences. I love the diversity
I would not classify this is a CD to put on in the background. It is so rich as to demand active listening to the magic he has laid down. This is a very moving and satisfying CD for me.

I purchased this CD after hearing one of the selections on the radio. The artist is certainly talented. I perceived the renditions as being very structured which detracted from the free flow and nuance of feeling that I enjoy in jazz. Classically trained musicians can be a little restrained and methodized in their interpretations of a piece. It is my impression that this is the case with many of the pieces here.

This album is delightful. The piano is exquisite. The rhythms are varied and the overall effect is well-rounded, energetic and artistic. I heard Eldar play with the San Diego Symphony this summer. He comes across as a delightful young man, sincere and pleasant.
But his music is completely enthralling if you enjoy classical jazz piano!
