You can read it to yourself, too!,
By
This review is from: Three Stories You Can Read to Your Cat (Paperback)
THREE STORIES YOU CAN READ TO YOUR CAT is really three stories: The Rainy Day, The Yummy Bug, The Good Day. The book is obviously meant for kids to read aloud. But you can read it to them, too. And you and the kids can practice "acting" during the dialogue. Each story is separate and complete -- and hilarious! The action captures the cat's personality. And the brightly colored illustrations are really funny. The nameless cat should be called Mischief (another fun thing to do with the child: find names for the cat). This book proves that, to a cat, it's all about the cat. F.Y.I., there's also a "Three Stories You Can Read to Your Dog" book.

A cute idea, well conceived and cleverly executed. I read both the cat book and dog book aloud to a group of elementary students (mixed levels) and it was enjoyed by all. Lots of expression and opportunities for "dramatic reading". Great illustrations add to the delight.

I was as shocked as anyone to discover that cats would appear to enjoy being read to. We have both of Sara's Cat Books, and they even seem to enjoy these two books in particular the most, so yes the rhythm and pace of the punctuation and wording, and expression of the stories told also seems to make a difference, and my Cats are every bit if not more difficult to impress or amuse as anyone elses ! Naturally Children love them even more and both cats and kids get pretty darned engrossed in the whole experience.
I've raised 4 children of my own and we've almost always had many multiple pets, and to be perfectly honest none of which are particularly easy to impress, so any time I can actually do anything right, you had better believe I'll repeat the process as frequently as possible ! ;^) Sara's books are wonderfully illustrated and expressive, and she definitely has a knack for seeing things from a unique point of view, and that is a Magical Quality in any life. Definitely worth the time & expense, and a bold political move for Any Parent or Pet Owner.

After finding Three Stories You Can Read to Your Cat at our local library and realizing that it was going to be hard to remove it from the house to return it, I went out and found all 4 books (3 Stories You Can Read to Your Cat, 3 More Stories You can Read to Your Cat, 3 Stories You Can Read to Your Dog, and 3 More Stories You Can Read to Your Dog.)
My kids are 3.5 and love these stories.. They very quickly memorized their favorites and apply the situations in the stories to our cats and dogs freely ( I think Auggie wants to be a Wild Dog today!). Written in a great voice that grabs your kid's attention and which is easily understood to be speaking not to them but to your cat or dog. The kids love the idea. The stories are genuinely funny.

This book is adorable and funny. The pictures are perfect. On top of that my doggy can bring the book over to me in his mouth without getting book wet.

I bought this book for my daughter who was 6 at the time, hoping it would get her to challenge herself to read more challenging books for her reading level (at the time.) She absolutely loved reading it to her cat, who also seems to enjoy laying on her bed and getting petted/read to. We have since bought several others of these books (stories to read to your dog, more stories to read to your dog), and even though she is now at a much higher reading level she still enjoys reading the stories to the pets over and over. Cute stories, sometimes funny, nice quality book.

This book is wonderful for children and adults. Cat owners will love and laugh at the perfect characterization of the feline mind. I had been wondering what present to get my dear friend, an owner of five cats, for completing her doctorate in veterinary medicine. She'll be receiving this book!

Gave this as a Christmas present to my 7 year old granddaughter and she loved it. Although at last contact she had yet to share with her cat. Guess she wanted to get the stories straight before sharing!

I purchased Three Stories You Can Read to Your Cat on Amazon.com for my daughter's seven month old kitten we just adopted from our local shelter. It's the kind of thing a cat addict would buy for their spoiled cat. It would also make a good read-aloud storybook for preschool children.
