5.0 out of 5 stars Free flowing jazz...beautiful, May 23, 2004

This review is from: Three Street Worlds (Audio CD)
This is a very refreshing album that beams with hints of experimental and free thinking jazz (with a groove). I liken some of the songs to having an Impluse! label feel(very late 60's early 70's). You can hear bits Pharoah Sanders, John Coltrane, even the Rotary Connection in this. And since some of the members of the jazz funk Brit band Galliano comprise this release it's easy to understand how it sounds somewhat groove oriented. Valerie Etienne's vocals are as brilliant as ever. Every song is an adventure. From mellow to more energetic. It's definately a contemplative, moody- melancholy affair. I had been searching for this for a while and found it at a reasonable price minus the one bonus track.

5.0 out of 5 stars On A Rainy Day or Other, June 15, 2005
This review is from: Three Street Worlds (Audio CD)
They say music emulates the city in which it is created. And I can tell it rains alot where the producers/writers of this album live because most of the songs take on the rhythm of rain begging for the sun to come out. And just listening to it over and over again a little sun opens up in me. Don't be misguided it's good for a rainy or sunny day. 'Two Banks of Four' are the people you would want to have over for dinner and have wine and intellectual conversations with, I play their music when I'm brainstorming and I sware the thoughts just flow to their rhythmic soulful jazz. It takes you as far as the sky is high. I feel my brain has expanded an inch just listening to this CD. Thank you TBOF.
