This review is from: The Three Sunrises (Paperback) A romantic vacation adventure. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and the detailed descriptions of their beautiful surroundings on the Florida Gulf. The story was engaging with several plots unfolding simultaneously. The action, drama, and romance were all intertwined perfectly. As I was reading- during a cold New England snowstorm, I found myself longing for a "frozen", a lounge chair, and a sunset over Captiva. Great book. --customer

From the Author

Dear Reader,
When you read my books I hope you are not only transported to these fabulous islands, but to a time when you were first in love and in lust- and couldn't get enough of either! There's nothing like delicious passion and raw animal attraction; even better when it's with someone you love and it just keeps going! I wish that for everybody. The world would be a happier place. I hope my books excite you- it's intended. And I hope once you get to know them, that my characters become your friends. I hope they make you laugh and make you cry, and magically want to pull up a beach chair and have a drink with them!

More About the Author

When I first moved to Sanibel Island, I thought for sure I'd be inspired to write, especially being surrounded by the beautiful beaches on the Gulf, and feeling as though I were on a never ending vacation. However, it wasn't until I moved back to Massachusetts with my husband and two children three years later that I became inspired to write--about the beautiful beaches on the Gulf, and feeling as though I were on a never ending vacation! They say you never know what you have until it's gone!
Anyway, one feezing cold, New England night I began to write about Ali and Nicki, and their summer adventures on Captiva Island (sister island to Sanibel). I had so much fun dreaming up characters that I'd actually want to be friends with and hang out with, that in fact the next time I visited Sanibel, I was convinced I'd find them having frozen drinks at my favorite bar. I was real disappointed when they weren't there. Ha Ha Ha. They are always on my mind though, and I have now written a series that includes not only Ali and Nicki, but the lives of their family and friends as well.
My own family includes my incredible husband of nineteen years (together for twenty-four), my fourteen year old daughter and my twelve year old son, who are my whole world. There's a pretty cute Golden Retriever in the mix too!
I've always loved to read and write, and admit I have an addiction to paper; leather bound journals (their blank pages cry out to me), notebooks of any kind, legal pads (preferably white), and pretty little note cards that unfortunately sit in unopened boxes; thanks or no thanks to e-mail. I will put ink to all of it eventually but for now, it's clutter. It's hard to part with my books, too. I share a lot of them, but mostly I hoard them up in the attic (stacked neatly in recycled bags). I'm envisioning my daughter someday when she's old enough, wanting to read my favorite romance novels. Realistically, she'll probably be blowing the dust off their covers and pricing them for the next yard sale.
I'm forty-four this year and continue doing something I'm passionate about;inventing characters I love(living vicariously through them!), and setting them in the places I love to visit. It's been so exciting hearing all of the positive feed back on this series, and knowing I've achieved a goal of entertaining other readers out there! Thank You!

Since I love Sanibel/Captiva Islands, that part of the book was fantastic! I can tell that the author indeed spent a lot of time on the islands. Also that she did give a shout-out to several wonderful businesses on both islands as she did use many real names.
This book definitely took me there. I pictured all the roads, the views, the buildings.
Why the rating of 3 out of 5 stars?
Sex. It was so sexually explicit and unnecessarily so - enough is enough. Well, that is, unless I am purchasing a book where it is obvious in the summary or blip that sexual acts is a HUGE part of the book. It truly would have gone over better if she had edited quite a lot of the ... well, pornographic nature of the book. It took away from the content, the mystery, the humor.
I give my books away after I read them to help spread the word, but in this case, no. I will most likely take it with me on my next trip to Sanibel Island in the fall and donate it at a thrift shop, the library, or one of the bookstores.
I would like to see Ms. Hartman write a mystery novel with just a touch of sex. She is talented. And for those who like to read sexually explicit books, they will love this!!

I love Sanibel Island and Captiva........love romance, but this is page after page of graphic sex scenes. So, I cannot recommend this book, unless you are interested in Porn in a Book!

After finishing the Shades of Gray trilogy, I was looking for my next book to read. I am a voracious reader, easily reading 2-3 books per week. The Three Sunrises was recommended to me by a friend, and since it was available on my Kindle (the only way to go in my opinion!) I ordered it. This is the PERFECT vacation read. It is fast moving and you get to know the characters quickly. This story has it all...some spicy romances, a crime fighter, drug smuggling, a sun-shiney locale and some laugh out loud moments! I read this book in a marathon reading session...I couldn't put it down. I started at about 8pm on a Saturday night after my 3 year old went to bed and read until 3 in the morning (not the wisest thing to do when you have a 3 year old). I picked up the book again the following morning and read for another hour..it was Mother's Day and I had to meet my mom...I brought my Kindle with me so I could read if I had a chance. I thought of the characters the whole day and couldn't wait to get back to my book. In my mind, I was casting actors & actresses for the movie version! I was sad when the book ended....hopefully there will be a sequel!

It's a fun read for sure.....if you're a bored housewife looking for a book to escape in, I suppose. My main gripe is the author's referral to an insignificant character(s) in the story. " The blonde" appeared a few times, as did "The leggy blonde". Since this book was written by a woman, she should not, in my opinion, be defining women by their hair color. How about "a tall, statuesque woman with blonde hair...."? I mean, c'mon......I'm no ranting ultra-feminist, but I do support the movement! Our bra-burning "sisters" of the 60's fought hard for women to get the respect they/we deserve, and not to be defined by our hair color and bra size! That sums it up about the content of this book, too. As the 2 main female character's physical attributes are described to be what men would find rather enticing, at least she evened it out with the male characters being something us bored housewives only dream of!

I cannot express how much I loved this book. I don't typically read that much but when I started this book I could not put it down. This is an easy read. I loved all the characters and drama going on in the book. I cannot wait to keep reading this series. This book made me feel like I was involved in the characters lives and I don't want to ruin the story but at the end I was like wait what happens next with their life I wanted to be apart of it. Kristen keep writing because at this pace I will fly through these books, great job :)

I didn't finish this book and that is unusual for me. I usually just skip over the peep show of reading the details of someones sex life. I try to find out how graphic the sex scenes are before I get a book, but couldn't find out much on this. I will permanently delete this book from my kindle as soon as I finish this review. I normally keep all books and re-read most of them at some time, but I have permanently deleted a few.
