Lee Goldberg is THE story-teller,

It's a pity this collection isn't much longer and with more stories, but it is, after all, called Three Ways to Die, so we'll have to make due with three stories.Once again, Lee Goldberg outdoes himself with these unique, fascinating stories, and at least one has a surprise ending (and I'm almost never surprised by an ending!) and that tickles me no end. If you enjoy well-written, entertaining stories with realistic characters, realistic dialogue, and 100% entertainment, then Lee Goldberg is the author for you! It's a terrible shame that all of Lee Goldberg's books aren't available on Kindle. Hint HINT, Kindle-Amazon. I'd buy them all, and I know I'm not the only one who would.

All Three Were Great!,
This review is from: Three Ways to Die (Kindle Edition)
Jack Webb's Star:After I got into it a bit, I thought it was a prelude to "The Walk". I later realized that it was either an 'afterward', an alternate reality, or it just had a similarity in it with Christopher Walken's part in both. Either way, it was a terrific short story. Bumsickle: This one seemed shorter than the others, but it didn't need to be long to make its point. Good twist. Remaindered: I liked this one best. It called to mind Stephen King's "Misery". Mr. Goldberg definitely knows how to craft a short story. Each one leaves you satisfied, yet wanting more. Length: 1290 locations (It took me about 45 minutes to read them all) Rating: R for content and some language Favorite Quote: "I like cat books, especially the ones where they solve murders. If you're smart, you'll write a cat book." This was said to an author who had had a book on the New York Times Bestseller List.

This was fun reading. It's a welcome break to read some short well written stories. I wish there was a book full of them.

I wasn't sure about this as I've never read books along this line. From the first page I was caught and couldn't stop. I cringed, I worried, I laughed, I wondered, and I laughed some more! Incredible clever is the best I can say to sum it up.

All three of these stories were great! Lee Goldberg is such a talented writer! These stories were much better than a 30 or 60 minute television show most entertaining, surprising with unexpected twists and turns --- glad I have a lot of his books still to be read! Very well written and will purchase more!

Left me wanting MORE!,

For the longest time, I've actually avoided short stores because, as someone told me long ago, the short story genre "usually never totally wraps up the tale" ... and I generally found that to be true.Lee Goldberg DOES wrap up the tale in fine fashion. All three stories provided colorful characters, interesting twists, and some darn fine endings. You'll really become involved in the tales of the sucker husband, the unlucky detective, and the in-the-toilet author. Enjoy!! My only complaint: there were only three stories! I wanted more! Now ... pardon me ... I'm off to find more Lee Goldberg work!

I didn't get through the first page before I was cackling. As always, humor keeps the pace up on the cases he writes about very well. Even without the humor, the storylines are compelling and very interesting, where as you never know when the story is about to turn.

Okay, so I write a lot of reviews and my ratings run the gamut of stars from 5 to 1 (not to mention the books I'd like to give negatives to if I only could). That being said, this book rates 4 3/4 stars with me. Containing three distinctly-different well-written short stories, this book has everything you could want for a quick diversion. The author bundles humor, irony, sex, murder and very descriptive text into great little stories which will leave you wanting more. Although brief, each story has admirable character development, and the author definitely has the ability to put you into the middle of the action. Really, you can't go wrong with any of these quick, down and dirty stories.

I was never quite sure where the stories were headed. You'll never guess who will die or how. Each story was very entertaining and the characters were developed (as much as possible for a short story). You can tell that the writer has extensive television scriptwriting experience because you will feel as if you are watching a TV show. I laughed out loud a lot while reading it; so much so, that my wife asked me what was so funny.Author of M.U.S.C.L.E. - The Cheatin' Security Guard (Short Story) (The MUSCLE Firm Series) |
