As it tells the story of the Three Wise Men from the perspective of three cats as they join the Magi in their search for the Christ child.

The book is both historically and geographically correct along with being culturally accurate. But more important it shows the miracle of Christ's birth and the the effects it has on three travelers who searched for him by following a star.

This is a story which can be enjoyed by both young and old and has all the markings of becoming a Christmas classic in the vain of It's a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Carol and The Cat Who Came for Christmas -Cleveland Armory.

It would be a great gift for anyone who likes or has cats, or as a book to be read each Christmas by anyone who would like to experience the story of Christ's birth and the miracles that it brings from the perspective of three little outsiders who traveled across a great distance and endured many dangers.

This book is a great feel-good Christmas story for the whole family. It has adventures, suspense, learning experiences and of course a happy ending. Not as exciting as an adult adventure story but that is not what this book is about. I also appreciate that two of the three cats have black fur (black cats need more positive exposure) and that the angle cat is also black furred. All in all a good read which will leave you smiling and be an annual Christmas favorite.

A very novel and interesting way to experience the Christmas Story in a non-sectarian way. The basic Christmas story is the backbone, and is enhanced very competently by increasingly complex challenges to the 3 cats that are also on the same mission as the 3 Wise Men. It builds in suspense as one progresses through the book, to the point that you do not want to put it down. A pleasant and easy read.

THREE WISE CATS, A CHRISTMAS STORY by Konstantelos and Jenkins-Brady is a sweet telling of the First Christmas, well-written for older children and any adult who loves cats! The authors show an expert understanding of cat behavior; more importantly, they weave an engaging tale of the adventures of the Wise Cats on their eventful journey to visit the new Messiah. Although the book is laced with accurate 1st Century landmarks and human characters, this reviewer (who is the author of a book about the REAL Magi) was disappointed that the authors never identified the Wise Men authentically as Zoroastrian priests. Otherwise, I heartily recommend this delightful story of healing and redemption.

Very well written. It almost follows the Wisemen tale, its the story of three cats and their journey to Jerusalem when following a star. I thought it was a wonderful book for the Christmas season and very heartwarming. Also there was historical information in it that was very interesting. Not a book for small children, but a great book for older children and animal lovers.

This was a great little book to keep the Christmas reading season going! We follow three cats on their journey to find the Messiah; they are following the new star and soon join up with the three wise men along the way. They also meet many other people on their journey and they learn what paths they must take after they find the Son of God. I knew I would really enjoy this book since it has cats as the main characters! The ending was especially touching as they meet the Savior and feel of His love for them. It was a great way to keep Christ in Christmas and remember the reason for the season.

Now is the time for Three Wise Cats. Or should I say the time has come again, for this pretty little book, which caused a minor sensation when it was first released. Based on the story of the wise men and the promise of the star that is known to Christian and non-Christian alike, the book is a retelling of that selfsame event but from the frame of reference of a trio of cats who have hitched a ride in the caravan.

The authors recreate that magical time through researched description and a languorous, hypnotic narrative pace, much like that of its protagonists. The cats riding in baskets on the camels and commenting on the events and human participants. Which is not to undereemphasize the adventures and excitement along the way!

Talking cats on the way to the Messiah? As created by Konstantelos and Jenkins-Brady this story is as much of a sustained piece of imagination as the Wonderland Alice found herself in, or the Narnia stories. And as would be corroborated by cat lovers all over the world, the mannerisms of the cats, their sensuous beings, delicate, gentle, licking ears, touching noses, has been perfectly observed and written.

And what better time than now as the Northern Hemisphere pulls out its autumn jacket and the Christian world begins its entry into the holy days, to think of things that matter, to think of gifts, this book its own precious gift, this jewel, that even a stone cold atheist would have to admit is a work of art, including a stunningly beautiful cover, and illustrated throughout (often whimsically). Three Wise Cats is the perfect literary ornament for any holiday reading tree. It will endure. (Now the question is: when will Berkley Penguin be releasing the sequel?
