Book Description

Be careful what you wish for…

Ladden Sanderson is an antiques dealer in Sacramento, California with the ill fortune to have fallen in love with Jasmine Crowne, the governor’s girlfriend. But the most he has to offer the lovely interior designer is an antique rug for her latest job: redecorating her boyfriend’s bedroom in the governor’s mansion. He thinks he might have found a great rug at the auction he just left. While he’s cleaning a copper lamp that came in a lot with the rug, an earthquake erupts, reducing his store to shambles. A homeless man appears with outlandish stories of being a genie and granting Ladden three wishes. Ladden sends him on his way, but bizarre things begin to happen—things that don’t exactly endear him to Jasmine, or her powerful boyfriend!

The “genie” appears and disappears at the oddest times…and then there’s the rug Ladden bought that seems to move around on its own volition. By the time Ladden starts to think there could be something to this magic thing, he’s wished himself into a hole the size of the Grand Canyon! But he still has one wish left--should he wish for his own happiness, or Jasmine’s, even if her happiness means his heart will be broken? A riotous contemporary twist on a classic tale.

Stephanie Bond was five years deep into a corporate career in computer programming and pursuing an MBA at night when an instructor remarked she had a flair for writing and suggested she submit material to academic journals. But Stephanie was more interested in writing fiction—more specifically, romance and mystery novels. After writing in her spare time for two years, she sold her first manuscript, a romantic comedy, to Harlequin Books. After selling ten additional projects to two publishers, she left her corporate job to write fiction full-time. To-date, Stephanie has more than sixty published novels to her name, including the popular BODY MOVERS humorous mystery series. For more information, visit www.stephaniebond.com.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fun Read! March 8, 2012
By LVesper
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have been a fan of Stephanie Bond's books for a few years. Her Body Movers series are some of my all time favorite books. This story is a modern day version of "Aladdin and the Magic Lamp". I was afraid that the fairy tale magic might be a bit silly, but it worked well. There was a nice balance of comedy and romance. It has few laugh out loud scenes and some hot love scenes, too. I absolutely loved Laddin's third wish and was pleased with how everything worked out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stephanie Bond's Three Wishes-A Winner March 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I love Stephanie Bond's Body Mover series and was a bit apprehensive about Three Wishes. I didn't have to worry. It is a wonderful take on the old Aladdin's Lamp tale. It is funny and sexy with adorable characters. I loved Gene and the rug. It's been a while since I found a story that pulled me in and kept me reading and laughing. I recommend Three Wishes to anyone who appreciates humor and a fun twist to the story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, fast, read! March 9, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A modern retelling of Aladdin that is fun, sexy and a quick read. Stephanie Bond has a real gift for story-telling and I enjoyed this book start-to-finish. If you enjoy modern fairytales like I do, then Three Wishes is not to be missed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute take on Aladdin. September 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Ladden owns his own antiques store and one day is cleaning out his store room when he happens to rub on a lamp. His store is then hit by and earthquake and a mysterious homeless man shows up in his store. The man thanks him for freeing him and tells Ladden he can grant him three wishes. Ladden dismisses all of this but as investigates he discovers that he's the only one on the street who actually suffered an earthquake. He doesn't have too much time to dwell on this as Jasmine(an interior decorator who frequently shops at his store) who is quite taken with a carpet that he acquired at the same time he received the lamp. Ladden has secretly had a crush on Jasmine for quite awhile, but she's taken as she's the governor's girlfriend.

However the mysterious homeless man continues to pop up in the story and all kinds of interesting things keep happening. No matter where Ladden places the carpet in his store it somehow moves around from place to place. Jasmine just happens to show up in the very bar that is owned by some of Ladden's relatives. Most curiously is the set of billboards that go from asking the city to re-elect the governor to proclaiming Ladden's love for Jasmine all over them. To a freak storm that traps Jasmine in Ladden's store for a few hours. Will Ladden have the chance to win the woman of his dreams or is it too late. And in the end what ends up being his third wish?

I've read and enjoyed a few of Stephanie Bond's stories and this one didn't disappoint. If you like Stephanie Bond books this might be up your alley.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute update on old tale... April 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I thought this was a cute update on the Aladdin tale complete with a genie and three wishes. The writing moved you along and I didn't want to put it down. However, it would have been a lot better without all the explicit sex scenes I had to skip over. It was a sweet story without needing all of that.

4.0 out of 5 stars Three Wishes Book Review March 8, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Another must read book by Stephanie Bond. Three Wishes is an enchanting love story. Ladden is an antique dealer who recently acquired a beautiful rug, which has a mind of its own, and an old bottle to sell at his store. He unknowingly releases the "Gene" the genie from a bottle that he purchased while polishing it. Gene then informs Ladden that he has three wishes. Ladden thinks the old man is senile, and does not believe him. Until... some of the things he wished out loud for start to come true. His wishes end up helping him to get closer to Jasmine; who he has had a crush for a while.
Over all, this book is a great read. If you are a Stephanie Bond fan you will not be disappointed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very cute story, but . . . January 7, 2013
By L. Toth
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm not going to deny it -- the story is extremely cute and I did enjoy it. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is because it's almost exactly like the last Stephanie Bond novel I read. I think I'm done with her stuff.

3.0 out of 5 stars Book Three Wishes November 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It was a very simple story without any depth but that can be okay when you just want to read for fun. This one was just a little too weak and sappy for my tastes though.

The book was good for the short rom-com that it was. There weren't very many syntax or grammatical errors, which is always refreshing to see in digital books. Read more

More About the Author

Stephanie Bond was several years into a corporate computer programming career when an instructor in her night school MBA program remarked that she had a flair for writing and encouraged her to submit one of her projects to academic journals. "But," Stephanie says, "all I could think was 'I wonder if I could write a romance novel?'" Bond grew up on a farm in eastern Kentucky where the entertainment choices were few. Luckily, she had a beloved aunt who shared her passion for reading. "When she visited once a year, she brought boxes and boxes of gothic novels by Victoria Holt and Phyllis Whitney and lush historical romances--I was in heaven! So suddenly thinking about writing in the genre of the books I loved was very exciting." After writing every spare moment for two years, Stephanie sold her first romantic comedy manuscript, IRRESISTIBLE? to Harlequin books. Two years later, she walked away from her corporate career to write commercial fiction full time. To date, she's published over 60 romance and mystery projects with Random House, St. Martin's Press, HarperCollins, and Mira Books, and is most well-known for her BODY MOVERS humorous mystery series. Her newest series is TWO GUYS DETECTIVE AGENCY (about two sisters whose last name is Guy). Stephanie lives in midtown Atlanta and is probably working on a story at this very moment.
